Foreign Service Institute renamed as Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service on the eve of her birth anniversary

The Pravasi Bhartiya Kendra has also been renamed as Sushma Swaraj Bhawan in a tribute to her invaluable contribution to Indian diplomacy, the cause of the Indian diaspora and the ethos of public service.

In a tribute to the former Minister of External Affairs Smt Sushma Swaraj, the Foreign Service Institute renamed as Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service. The announcement was made today by the Ministry of External Affairs on the eve of her birth anniversary. The Pravasi Bhartiya Kendra in New Delhi has also been renamed as Sushma Swaraj Bhawan.
Smt. Sushma Swaraj was born on 14th February 1952. As the minister of external affairs between 2014 and 2019, she had been prolific is changing the way the minsitry worked and the way it liasoned with the common people. She was the contact point for anyone in distress and in need of help in India and abroad in terms of Visa issues and other issues faced by the diaspora. She revolutionized the way social media was used to address people’s problems. Her contribution of the Indian diplomacy has been applauded and commended by leaders across the party lines.
The press note released by the MEA today states that “In a solemn tribute to the invaluable contribution of former External Affairs Minister late Smt. Sushma Swaraj to Indian diplomacy, the cause of the Indian diaspora and the ethos of public service, it has been decided to rename the Pravasi Bhartiya Kendra in New Delhi as Sushma Swaraj Bhawan and Foreign Service Institute also in New Delhi, as Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service.”
