New Delhi: In order to promote the talent of school students, Probashi Bongiyo Samaj (PBS), an organisation of the Bengalis living in Delhi, organised a function on September 8 to felicitate the meritorious students of 10th and 12th at Jhandewala Mata Mandir auditorium.

A total of 56 students were felicitated at the function. The PBS has been organising such functions for the year 2004 when it was formed. Since then it has felicitated over a thousand students in Delhi.

“The prime objective of organising the function is to motivate and inspire the students to contribute to building a better society. Today, when the students and their parents seem crazy for ‘career’ we educate them about their roots and also tell them how they should stay connected to their roots while achieving heights in the career. We want them to be a good citizen and contribute to the nation-building. On such events, we invite various big personalities so that the students draw inspiration from them and think of imitating them. 12th is the stage in education when the students and their parents stay confused about the future of the child. At this stage they need right direction. We are trying to provide that direction,” said joint convener of PBS Shri Ajit Paul while talking to Organiser.

This year, the trustee of Sankalp Smt. Madhu Prabhakar, retired IAS Shri Deepak Bhattacharya, Shri Soumen Purokayasta from IIM-Kolkata and some other personalities joined the function and felicitated the students. Smt Prabhakar motivated the children to think big in their life and make all efforts to achieve the goal.

Apart from the parents, treasurer of Probashi Bongiyo Samaj Shri Swarup Kumar Maity, joint secretary Shri Anjan Sinha, vice presidents Shri Rajkumar Jana, Shri Raju Das and Shri Badal Mondal were also present.
