Syed Muhammad, a Central Excise employee, has been taken into police custody in Kozhikode. The police are examining whether the accused have any affiliation with any terrorist group.
The Kerala police have arrested a Central Excise employee in Kozhikode in connection with issuing a death threat against V Muraleedharan, Minister of State for External Affairs.
According to the police, Syed Muhammad, a Central Excise Department official, called the police control room in Kozhikode on Tuesday night.
The state police with the help of cyber cell traced the phone number to a BSNL employee based in Thiruvananthapuram. The local police have detained him. According to reports, he told the police that he attended a training programme with the suspect in Hyderabad in 2015. He managed to get a SIM card in his name and handed over it to Syed Muhammed.
The police are examining whether the accused have any affiliation with any terrorist group. The phone recovered from his custody has been sent for forensic analysis.
V Muraleedharan is the lone minister from Kerala in the NDA government. He is a Rajya Sabha member from Maharashtra. He took charge as Minister of State for External Affairs on May 31, 2019.
