Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi interacted with ASHA Workers who came from all the States in a function organised by Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi remarked that it is because of the dedicated efforts of ASHA Workers that child mortality in India could be substantially reduced. He was talking in a meeting with ASHA Workers who came from all the States organised by Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh. WHO has remarked yesterday about the dramatic breakthrough in reducing infant mortality rate in India. P.M. congratulated all the ASHA Workers in the country for their contribution in Nation building. Narendra Modi described the hostile and most difficult situations and timing in which ASHA Workers have to perform their duties. They have to leave their families at midnight to attend pregnant women and sick children. Anganwadi workers from all the States met the Prime Minister separately.

Anganwadi and ASHA workers from all the states in India met the Prime Minister for thanking him for the substantial increase in the honorarium, incentive and insurance cover. Prime Minister also congratulated Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh for its persistent efforts in persuading the Government for the increase to the scheme workers. Both the teams were accompanied by Shri C.K. Sajjinarayanan, President and Shri Virjesh Upadhyay, General Secretary.

While talking to Anganwadi Workers on the new initiative of the Government’s Nutrition Programme for one month instead of two weeks, he said that only Anganwadi workers can achieve total nutrition to the poor children in India. Narendra Modi asked them to continue it year long. He described Anganwadi workers as the real trainers of futures generation which no Government can achieve without their help. Anganwadi Workers have a prominent role in building the future of India. He also compared Anganwadi workers with Yashoda of Gokul who looked after the naughty Sri Krishna. “Yashoda had one kanhaiya whereas you have many”, he told Anganwadi Workers.

Smt Pankajini Nayak, President and Smt. Hemlata, General Secretary of Akhil Bharatiya ASHA Karamchari Mahasangh, Smt.
