Former Delhi Prant Sanghachalak Ramesh Prakash Sharma passed away on November 21

New Delhi: Former Delhi Prant Sanghachalak of RSS, Ramesh Prakash Sharma, passed away on November 21. He was 84. He is survived by his wife Smt Asha Sharma who has been Akhil Bharatiya Sahkaryavahika of the Rashtra Sevika Samiti and now is Uttar Kshetra Palak Adhikari, two daughters and a son. He was cremated at Nigam Bodh Ghat on November 23. The last rites were performed by his son, Vishal Sharma.
Prominent among those who paid tribtue at Nigam Bodh Ghat included Union Ministers Shri Arun Jaitley and Dr Harsh Vardhan, Gujarat Governor Prof OP Kohli, LG of Andaman & Nicobar Islands Prof Jagdish Mukhi, RSS Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh Dr Manmohan Vaidya, Uttar Kshetra Pracharak Shri Banvir, senior Pracharaks Shri Premchand Goel, Shri Ashok Prabhakar, Shri Rameshwar and others.
He was a Member of the Board of Directors, Bharat Prakashan (Delhi) Ltd, the publisher of Organiser and Panchjanya, from September 1, 2000 to September 10, 2010.
As a teacher of Economics in a school run by the Hindu Shiksha Samiti Rameshji nurtured thousands of students, but as a Sangh worker in Delhi he has shaped
innumerable workers who hold various responsibilities today in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.
He was born on November 2, 1933 on Shri Guru Nanak Jayanti Day at Amritsar, Punjab where his father was then posted. However, his family belonged to Shekhupura in West Pakistan. The family migrated to India after the Partition. He became a Sangh swayamsevak in his early childhood and achieved the image of an ideal worker in the organisation. He came in contact of the then Karnal Zila Pracharak Shri Sohan Singhji. Rameshji held the responsibility of Haryana Prant organising secretary of Bharatiya Jansangh for some time. Holding various responsibilities in the Sangh, he rose to become Uttar Kshetra Karyavah and then Delhi Prant Sanghachalak. He maintained affectionate association with all from an ordinary worker to an Akhil Bharatiya Adhikari of the Sangh. He influenced countless Sangh workers through his personal conduct and ideals of life. He was expert in resolving even the complicated issues through his simple nature and acumen. That is why apart from Sangh workers, people from other organisations also visited him regularly for guidance.
Recalling his long association with Rameshji, Delhi Prant Sah Sanghachalak Shri Alok Kumar said: “I was about 10-12 year old when I came in contact with Ramesh Prakashji, who then looked after the work of evening Shakhas in Delhi. After narrating inspiring stories he normally used to ask the swayamsevaks to show their palm. He had learnt palmistry with the objective of getting more friendly with the swayamsevaks of the evening shakhas. After reading my palm, he had predicted that I would become a Sangh Pracharak. A large number of senior Sangh workers holding senior posts in the Sangh today have been nurtured by him since their childhood. He instilled in them the commitment to the work and also made them a dedicated worker of the organisation. These dedicated workers, shaped by him in Delhi and Uttar Kshetra, are invaluable wealth of the Sangh today.”
