What Mamata Banerjee is doing is nothing but expression of frustration as she failed to mobilise public opinion against demonetisation movement

The movement initiated by Miss Mamata Banerjee against the demonetisation scheme put forward by the Prime Minister of India has already lost its thunder. One of the senior Ministers of Mamata’s cabinet Subrata Mukherjee whom she always keeps at a safe distance, commented that “of late Mamata has become very shaky and that is the reason why her recent utterances regarding Prime Minister Modi are so discordant.” Subrata believes that people of Bengal have correctly caught her weaknesses which have been totally exposed. The latest incidents for example (1) Trying to stop the Mela organised by the Central Minister and Member of Parliament from Asansol Babul Supriyo, failed miserably when the BJP minister got the permission from the Court of Law.
In fact, after this insult vindictive Mamata has deputed her cadres to harass Babul Supriyo on each and every step of his programme. On January 15, Babul was scheduled to visit the Durgapur Power Plant. But when Babul went to that place, a big group of TMC workers were there to stop him from entering the plant. Apart from slogans and showing Black flags the demonstrators started pelting stones at the car of the Central Minister. The Central Industrial Security Force took the proper steps and Babul could visit the plant.
This is nothing but expression of frustration on the part of ruling party as they had failed to mobilise public opinion against demonetisation movement. Except the hard core workers of the TMC no one is participating in this movement.
(2) She was back-seat driving the Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, one among the closest
companions of the Chief Minister, to stop the proposed rally of RSS (which is a yearly event) in the presence of Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat. Rajiv Kumar is so adamant a person that he not only abused the RSS leaders but also tried to ignore the order passed by the Hon’ble Justice Joymalya, Bagchi who in his turn paid back the police Commissioner in his own coin by slamming contempt of court charge against Rajiv Kumar. Acting on the subsequent application of RSS Justice Bagchi not only ordered to make all security
arrangements for the rally but also asked the Commissioner of Police, Kolkata Rajiv Kumar to report to the court. On the other hand, Mohan Bhagwat has said, “We have no enmity with anybody. All we want is that Hindus should be organised so that no power on earth could dare belittle this community.”
(3) On January 15, 2017 few well circulated and renowned newspapers including “BARTAMAN” of Kolkata published one photo-copy of a PMO letter to CBI where in it was purported to have said that the following leaders and Ministers of TMC would be arrested by the CBI in course of time. This had created an unusual hue and cry not only in the political circle but also among the people of the State. Mamata herself had spearheaded the anti-BJP propaganda with usual
abuses in filthy language.
The very next day a rejoinder letter issued by the PMO said that no such letter has ever been written by the PMO to CBI. The date of the same
letter published in newspapers was 21.09.2015. The publicists of this
letter claimed that this had been
written in the wake of
“demonetisation”. The fact remains that demonetisation order was issued on November 8, 2016.
(4) But undaunted as they are, they have started spreading canards against (personally) Modi that he is pursuing with the policy of “political vendetta” by arresting number of TMC leaders including Ministers of West Bengal and Member of Parliament. Hence, Mamata declared that she can also take such measures and in no time Mamata’s police arrested JP Majumdar on charges of fraud that he had charged Rs 7.20 Lakh from some unemployed persons to fight court cases and did nothing. After arrest, police leveled barrage of unfounded allegations. Next day, when Majumdar was produced before the court, he said that as an advocate he had charged the money as fee and had given proper receipt to the party. Then he produced proper documents wherein it has been established that as a lawyer of the
litigant he appeared before Supreme Court thrice and before that he appeared several times before the court on their behalf. But days in and days out frivolous allegations are being inflicted just for the purpose of character assassination.
(5) Now the TMC Supremo has hatched a new conspiracy to implicate Dilip Ghose, West Bengal BJP
president as the main conspirator of Shrinu Nayar murder at Kharagpur. This place happened to be the
constituency of Dilip Ghose who has won the assembly election from this constituency. Mamata and party have become apprehensive of Ghose’s growing popularity in the area. The ruling party had managed one Nanda Das who had been arrested on the
murder charge of Shrinu Nayar. But when he was produced before the Midnapore Court, he declared that Dilip Ghose is connected with this murder. The local BJP workers are of the opinion that if Dilip Ghose is taken in to the police custody the ruling party will face the music. Dilip Ghose himself challenged Mamata Banerjee to arrest him. It is to be seen what further step the ruling party is taking in this case.
(6) This year the number of pilgrims, who visited Gangasagar Mela, is more than double the number of pilgrims who visited last year. Unfortunately, despite making very good arrangements, six people died in stampede while coming back from the Mela. But the ruling party is not ready to accept this fact. They say that those who died had prior ailment. But the relatives and accompanyists of those deceased pilgrims said that they had died because of stampede. Madam is still maintaining that it was a natural death as they were ill when they came.
Subrata Mukerjee, Panchayat Minister of the State said that somehow or other Mamata has become very much shaky which is not her character. Someone commented, “This is a new development in her character especially after the movement she had been spearheading against Demonetisation.”
