The slogan of beti bachao beti padhao of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi have started bearing fruits. The success of Indian girls, PV Sindhu, Sakshi Malik and Dipa Karmakar in Rio Olympics have delivered a slap on those parents who kill their girl child in the womb itself or in the cradle , or discriminate against their daughter. Such people will, hopefully, now learn a lesson from the happy faces of the parents of Sindhu, Malik and Karmakar. Due to female foeticide and female infanticide India’s child sex ratio ( 0-6) years has come down from 945 girls per 1,000 boys in 1991 to 914 in 2011. Here it would not be out of way to mention that not only in Olympics, girls have always shown better results academically also.

Baluchis need Help
(Discourse Correction, August 28); This refers to the article Dr Pramod Pathak in Organiser. The article is an apt appreciation of Baluch people’s battle against Punjabi domination in Pakistan. Baluchistan did not fully accede to Pakistan in 1947. MA Jinnah tried to forcibly occupy Baluch territory by military invasion in March 1948. In the past India has supported the erstwhile East Pakistan’s struggle for freedom, now it should support the people of Baluchistan against Pakistan’s atrocities.

Nepal : Political Bickering
Congress Party had ignored Nepal and allowed the pro-China Marxists in India and Nepal to turn the people of Nepal against India. In spite of India’s outstanding help during earth quake and others disasters to Nepal, the media and Communists pick up one subject or other to turn people of Nepal against India. But they forget that the Gorkhas are not working for Chinese army, but for the Indian army. In fact we have got one full regiment in the Indian Army known as ‘Grokha Regiment’. Let us train all are Nepali sisters and brothers as goodwill ambassadors and let them go to Nepal to educate the masses about Chinese takeover of Tibet and what Marxists did in West Bengal. Unless we create a strong pro-Bharat lobby, we shall not succeed.

In order to divert the attention of the people from real issue of terrorism, Islamabad is mischievously diverting the attention by blaming India for spreading terror in the Province. Pakistan is the breeding ground for terror and now it is being paid back in its own coin. What is tragic is that many innocent people die in such attacks. Instead Pakistan must subscribe itself to eliminate terror with full commitment before it goes out of control.
SRAVANA RAMACHANDRAN, Chennai
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s attempt to address himself to the sullen mood in the Valley should send a message that the Indian democracy is capable to dissolve resentments and grievances. Clearly, the separatist cannot be pleased with Modi putting all the Indians on the same footing as the Kashmiris nor his appeal is unlikely to be heeded by the separatists whose actions are dictated by their Inter-Services intelligence minders in Pakistan. The people of Kashmir need to be given a credible fig leaf to spurn the separatist’s fake righteousness.

Drought Relief Camps
(Fighting against drought with a difference, August 7); This refers to the news report in the ‘News Round-up’page of Organiser titled ‘Fighting against drought with a difference’ by Dattatraya Ambulkar. We appreciate the ‘RSS-Jan Kalyan Samiti’ of Maharastra for doing commendable service by supplying water for drought hit areas in Maharastra State, for people, cattle ,and even birds as well. In fact as days roll on, we may have to face this type of situation not only in Maharastra but in several parts of our country. To face droughts the Central and State governments should jointly bring up ‘Permanent Drought Relief Camp’ in every taluk ,so that this facility can be utilised whenever droughts and famines strikes with immediate effect.

Sin to call them ‘Intellectuals’
(Cultural Not Colonial, August 21); This refers to the article ‘Cultural Not Colonial’ by Prasanna A Deshpande. The article is mind blowing with only one drawback that in the article historians who have distorted our history have been repeatedly called as ‘Intellectuals’. I feel that writers who don’t care about their motherland and have their own distorted thoughts should not be called as intellectuals. Intellectuals are the ones who know everything and present views in a fair manner. Whereas the present day so-called
Recall what Indira did
Salman Khurshid must recall what Indira Gandhi did in 1971 before venturing to criticise Modi for his Baluchistan remark. Bangladesh came into being in December 1971. Prior to that it was East Pakistan, very much a part of Pakistan. But Indira Gandhi mentioned it in her so many speeches throughout the year, lambasting the policy adopted by the Pak regime in its eastern wing. The violations of basic human rights in Baluchistan by Islamabad are no less flagrant than its misconduct in East Pakistan during 1970-71, particularly after March 71. When heinous crimes are committed by a government to crush an ethnic, lingual or religious minority residing in its territory, it is imperative for nations, particularly neighbouring ones, to speak up and condemn. What Modi said was far short of that. But his remark, howsoever veiled it was, has sent waves of tremor in Islamabad.

Organiser August 21
This refers to the editorial in Organiser titled ‘Resolve Beyond Resolution’ which is an eye opener and if read between lines it is a clear mirror to Government i.e. ‘Need to act beyond unanimous Resolution’. Further I refer to the article ‘Pragmatism: An Appeal to Kashmiris’ by Brig Anil Gupta. We Indians have great expectation from the present Prime Minister to get the problems of Kashmir settled forever not in pieces but in finality. To solve Jammu and Kashmir problem , the PM need not follow the policy of Congress Prime Ministers and should act independently. PM too should show courage as his MoS Dr Jitendra Singh has rightly said ” Final battle for freedom is to liberate PoK…. to unfurl the tricolour in PoK.” To achieve this we cannot afford to allow Kashmiri youths to continue Islamic violence, pelt stones on security forces of the nation. There is an immediate need to send the separatist leaders who are misguiding and instigating the Kashmiri youths for violence behind bars instead of providing them foolproof security cover. We cannot afford to declare terrorists like Burhan Wani to become martyr of Kashmir Valley. Shri Modi must solve the Jammu and Kashmir problem permanently which is the oldest political problem and this can be achieved only if policies of Congress PMs are not followed. The present Prime Minister as we expect from him, should come up with crystal clear policy on PoK and ensue that peace is established in the region permanently.

As you sow so shall you reap
( The Trial Tale, July 31); This refers to the article ‘The Trial Tale’ by K Aayushi. Here I would like to add that it is not only Rahul Gandhi , who has blamed the RSS for the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi, but many Congress leaders and anti-Hindu media blames RSS , directly or indirectly. The fact is , that Gandhi indulged in anti- Hindu and anti- national activities so much , that he went to the extent of forcing the then British government to give rupees 55crore to Pakistan and included this as one of the conditions to end his fast unto death which he had undertaken for the sake of Muslims. Gandhi very well knew that Pakistan had invaded Jammu and Kashmir , and giving 55 crore to an enemy was an anti- national activity. Nehru was always faithful to Gandhi and Sardar Patel was also in the habit of following Gandhi and Nehru, sometimes with a little hesitation. If Nehru and Sardar Patel had objected earlier to Gandhi’s anti- Hindu activities, Godse would not have killed Gandhi. Godse was very disciplined and led a virtuous life and free from any ills. He was a fully committed Hindu nationalist and could not tolerate the anti-Hindu activities of Gandhi. In anger he killed Gandhi, for which Nehru and Patel are equally responsible, as they did not control Gandhi. This was Godse’s personal act and in no way the RSS come into picture.
