YFS to distribute 15,000 school kits

Hyderabad: Hyderabad unit of Youth for Sewa (YFS) is in the process of gifting 15,000 school kits to the children studying in under-resourced schools at urban slums, rural and Vanvasi areas of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The kit consists of a bag with five notebooks, pencil/pen, dictionary, water bottle and a year planner. It costs Rs 400.
The kit drive was driven by the YFS team by setting up stalls at various renowned IT companies such as CA Technologies, Thomson Reuters, Oracle and many more in Hyderabad. The partner companies delivered the kit items to the YFS. Some of the kits were packed at the corporate campuses of Google, Wells Fargo, Deloitte, etc. involving their employees. A large number of workers, including some holding senior positions joined the packing. Aprt from it, around 400 volunteers gathered at one place and packed 8,000 kits within two hours on June 5.
For distribution of the kits, the YFS volunteers would personally visit the government schools in and around Hyderabad as well as in districts. In rural areas, the kits will be distributed with the help of partner organisations. The YFS believes that a helping hand from the society will encourage the students in attaining education and arrest the school dropout rates.    n
