RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat, senior saints and leaders from various social, cultural organisations paid homage to the departed VHP leader Ashok Singhal in New Delhi.
Thousands of people from different walks of life paid rich tributes to the late Ashok Singhal in a condolence meeting held at KD Jadhav Wrestling Stadium at Indira Gandhi Sports Complex in New Delhi on November 22, 2015.
Sharing his memories, RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat said Singhalji was an orator par excellence, true stalwart of Hindutva movement, a good classical singer and a guiding force for all. Recalling his last meeting with him, Shri Bhagwat said Ashokji had two desires—re-building glorious temple of Bhagwan Sri Ram in Ayodhya and spreading Vedic wisdom in the world. Serious attempts should be made to accomplish the dreams of Ashokji. “The real tribute to him will be putting our complete strength towards fulfillment both of his resolves,” he added.
BJP veteran leader Dr Murli Manohar Joshi shared his personal experiences with Ashokji. He said Ashok Singhal was a deeply spiritual person. He was fully committed to the spread of Vedic wisdom and values in the world. He said Ram and Bharat are synonymous to each other. He said there are misconceptions about Ashok Singhal's personality. He was a spiritual and unifying person. It was the miracle of his personality that he brought leaders of all communities and sects together on one platform.
BJP president Amit Shah, who specially flew back to Delhi for this condolence meeting after casting his vote in Ahmedabad, said the demise of Ashok Singhal was an irreparable loss to the Sangh associated organisations and the nation as a whole. He was the architect as well as leader of the biggest mass movement of Bharat post Independence.
Vishva Hindu Parishad working president Dr Pravin Togadia said it was Ashok Singhal who transformed the VHP into an organisation which has spread in all parts of the country and world. He said Ashok Singhal was committed for elimination of caste based bias. The Central government should pass an act in parliament to construct a Ram temple in Ayodhya, it’ll be a fitting tribute to Ashokji.
VHP president Raghav Reddy said the role of Ashok Singhal was instrumental in bringing the whole Hindu community together. His sole aim was to ensure the upliftment of downtrodden classes and the overall progress of the nation. Didi Maa Sadhvi Ritambhara said Ashok Singhal inspired millions of lives with his deeds. She said Ashokji was synonymous with VHP. Real tribute to him will be reconstruction of a Ram temple at Ayodhya.
RSS Sahsarkaryavahs Dr Krishna Gopal and Shri Dattatreya Hosabale, Senior ministers from Central Government Ravishankar Prasad, Dr Harsh Vardhan, JP Nadda along with Sadhvi Niranjana Jyoti, Swami Gyananand, Swami Chidanand Muni of Rishikesh, Swami Raghavanand of Delhi Sanatan Dharma Pratinidhi Sabha, several MPs, Senior journalist Rambahadur Rai, leading industrialist and ex president VHP Vishnu Hari Dalmia, Amity University Founder Ashok Chauhan, leading saints and representatives from Sikh, Jain, Bauddh communities and various socio-cultural organisations were also present.
