Recent heavy rains lashed Chennai city throwing normal life out of gear. The city saw severe water logging and people wading through knee deep water. RSS swayamsevaks in their respective areas carried out the relief activities. In Villiwakkam, Annai Satya Nagar, food packets were distributed to the victims. The swayamsevaks under the guidance of Bhag Karyavah Shri Suresh carried out the relief activity at MKB Nagar Vyasarpadi, North Chennai. They cleared the street lamp post which had fallen down and blocked the main road, thus helping in clearing the traffic. The swayamsevaks prepared and distributed food to around 400 people in Arundathi Nagar, Mettupalayam, Perambur Bhag. They served breakfast in the morning, lunch in the afternoon and dinner at night for the past three days under the guidance of Chennai Mahanagar Seva Pramuk Shri Srinivasan. They distributed food at Madipakkam area also. Many families who were struck in flood were rescued and sent to safe places. A team of swayamsevaks engaged themselves in regulating the traffic near Mangal Park, Ambattur. Shri Srinivasan Chennai Mahanagar Seva Pramuk guided the seva activity.

Bengaluru to host 5-day Hindu Spiritual and Service Fair-2015 from Dec 9 to 13
Showcasing the service projects run by various socio-religious institutes across Karnataka, a 5-day mega Hindu Spiritual and Service Fair-2015 will be held from December 9 to 13 at National High School Grounds, Basavanagudi, Bengaluru. Eminent economist S Gurumurthy and president of the reception committee of HSSF-2015 Shri Vijaya Sankeshwara said on November 13 that the Fair would provide a platform for spiritual and service organisations and also to motivate, involve the public to be part of the process of social transformation. The 5-day conclave is expected to be attended by nearly 10 lakh citizens of Bengaluru and nearby districts, which is first of its kind in Bengaluru. The event aims on the following major themes: to foster woman’s honour, to inculcate human and family values, to instill patriotism, to sustain environment, to conserve forest, protect wildlife and to reserve the ecology. More than 200 major socio-religious service organisations will take part in this fair; will set up their stalls to showcase the service activity being run by them.
Tribute to Mukundrao Panshikar
Senior Sangh Pracharak and Akhil Bharatiya Dharma Jagran Pramukh Mukundrao Panshikar passed away in Mumbai on November 7. In his tribute RSS Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh Dr Manmohan Vaidya said “the sudden demise of Panshikarji shocked everybody. He led the RSS in Maharashtra for many years and created a dynamic leadership for Dharma Jagran Vibhag at the national level”.
A condolence meeting was held in Nashik where the speakers said they have lost a true mentor. Akhil Bharatiya Sah Dharma Jagaran Pramukh Shri Sharadrao Dhole, RSS Nashik Sanghachalak Shri Kailash Solunke and Mahanagar Karyavah Shri Vijay Kadam expressed their past experiences with him. Shri Dhole said Panshikarji created thousands of activists while working in RSS. He never forgot the average activists while working at the national level. Shri Balasaheb Sanap, MLA, said Panshikarji knew the art of preparing an activist. MLA Devyani Pharande, MLA Seema Hiray, Apurva Hiray, Giriraj Kubre, Eknath Shete and Laxman Savji also paid tribute to the departed soul.
Dr Nagesh Thakur and Vinay Bidre elected new President and General Secretary of ABVP
Dr Nagesh Thakur from Shimla and Vinay Bidre from Bangaluru have been elected National President and General Secretary of ABVP respectively. The announcement was made by election officer Dr. Chaganbhai Patel in Mumbai. The term of both the newly elected office bearers will be for one year. They will take charge of their responsibilities in 61th National Conference scheduled to begin from 26th November in Bhuwaneshwar.
Dr. Nagesh Thakur basically belongs to Joginder Nagar in Mandi District of Himachal Pradesh. Since his student life, he played a decisive role in student movement. After completing PhD in physics from Himachal University, He is now working as professor there. He has deep understanding on various educational issues.
Shri Vinay Bidre hails from Bidre Village of the Tumkur District of Karnataka province and has been in contact with ABVP since 1998 from his student days. He has completed his education in Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and in Journalism. In the past, he has served as the President of the students’ union of Tumkur College and has also served as Karnataka’s State Secretary and National Secretary of ABVP. He has successfully led several social and educational movements. He has played an important role in resolving many educational problems of students in Karnataka. From the movement against anomalies in the competitive exams organised for professional courses, to a serious study of the problems of tribal hostels, he has successfully led various student movements. He has also visited China as a member in the delegation of the Youth and Sports Ministry, Government of India in 2014.
Senior Pracharak Ramjidas Sharma is no more
Senior Sangh Pracharak Ramjidas Sharma passed away in New Delhi on November 7. He was 85. As per his wishes his body was donated to Maulana Azad Medical College. Ramjidas Sharma worked in various fields. While serving the Partition victims in 1947 he suffered some problems in his body due to a bomb blast, which lasted throughout his life. After working in ABVP for several years he was sent to look after the BMS work in West Bengal where he worked for 10 years. He strengthened the BMS work in very opposite circumstances there. Then he was sent to Lucknow and many other places. Presently he was Karyalaya Pramukh of BMS head office in Delhi. He had donated his ancestral property to the Sangh Karyalaya.
RSS Pathsanchalan in Kishtwar
RSS swayamsewaks in Kishtwar conducted pathsanchalan in the town as part of 90th foundation day of the RSS. Amidst heavy rains and acute cold the programme started at 11 am with Shastra Pujan and Sangh Prathana. Addressing the swayamsewaks, Vibhag Sangha-chalak Shri Ashok Kumar briefed the Sangh history since 1925. He appealed to the youths to get connected with the daily shakhas, which teach discipline and would connect them with the national integration. Even after heavy rains and low temperature, the pathsanchalan was conducted in complete uniform. It passed through BVM, Shaheedi Chowk, main market of Kishtwar, DC office, Dak Banglow Chowk and culminated at the same venue. The dedication and spirit of swayamsewaks was highly praised by the citizens as well as the administration.
Sports meet of Bharatiya Shiksha Samiti J&K
Bharatiya Shiksha Samiti J&K organised 27th State sports Meet Athletics 2015 at Zoravar Singh Sports Stadium Reasi. About 120 athletes from 5 zones comprising 16 schools of Bharatiya Shiksha Samiti namely Kishtwar, Bhaderwah, Doda, Ramban, Udhampur, Kathua, Basholi, Samba & Jammu participated in the event. The prize distribution function was presided over by Shri Ramlal Sharma, working president of Bharatiya Shiksha Samiti J&K. The chief guest on the occasion was Shri Hari Krishan Nazar, SP Deputy commandant IRP-1 J&K Police. Jammu zone won the overall championship by securing 162 points, Udhampur remained 2nd with 106 points and Doda at 3rd place with 93 points. The best athlete was Sonia Verma from BVM Hira Nagar who won the gold medal.
