If even after having a democratically elected government in Delhi, the Prime Minister and Lieutenant Governor are responsible for everything, then a supposition of President’s Rule seems a far better prospectus than this ‘electoral-blunder’ whose only major contribution is controversies.

Just before the Delhi Elections in February 2015, Aam Aadmi Party conducted a Women Dialogue on its foundation day. Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal announced the party’s 10 point agenda for women, which will be implemented after the AAP Government is formed in Delhi. These points were:

  • Delhi to be free of dark spots. Street lights to be installed and made functional in all streets of the capital and all pavements.
  • CCTVs in buses and bus shelters. Deter and stop crime in every form of public transport.
  • Bus Marshals on every bus. Zero tolerance against molestation, eve-teasing and violence against women.
  • Ensuring Last mile connectivity by expanding Grameen Sewa Services, shared auto rickshaw services and e-rickshaw services through delimitation and fixed routes
  • Two lakh toilets for women with 50,000 toilets in public spaces and 1.5 lakh toilets in slums. Sanitation for every citizen in public spaces and slums.
  • Swift and effective justice in crimes against women.
  • Women’s Security Force to be formed by the utilisation of Delhi’s 12,000 strong New Delhi Home Guard and Civil Defence Force.
  • Suraksha button on every mobile phone with emergency connectivity with Delhi Police via Wifi.
  • Women to get a say on existence and location of alcohol vends in slums and residential colonies.
  • Focus on ensuring and encouraging the social security of women in the unorganised sector, domestic help and daily wage labourers. Increased penetration of healthcare and education facilities in every Delhi assembly constituency.

As none of these promises has seen little initiation, leave alone the implementation. The Kejriwal Government in Delhi has gone brazen shameless in yet again accusing the centre for its helplessness in achieving its promises. Soon, ‘Look’s who’s talking moment arrived for Kejriwal, who nonetheless criticised Shiela Dixit in her tenure for passing the baton on to the Center. From PMO to Delhi Police Chief Bassi, already nobody takes Kejriwal seriously; but the man in the garb of a
commoner leaves no stone unturned to be media’s controversial baby.
Therefore, it will be certainly less logical to hand-over police control to someone as unstable and fickle as Kejriwal, whose only means of petty publicity is the unrestricted bashing of the center. In the current scenario of things, it is best in the interest of Delhi CM to follow up on what he promised. PM did not get elected on the behest of providing safety to Delhi and her people, Kejriwal did. PM did not promise 15 Lakh CCTV camera to Delhiites, Kejriwal did. It seems that all the promises will be fulfilled once Delhi acquires a full statehood, but to be reassured, Kejriwal never fought the elections on achieving the full statehood status alone. He very well knew the he’s would be the CM of Union Territory of NCT of Delhi, and the status-quo is essentially eternal in the present power dynamics.
If even after having a democratically elected government in Delhi, the PM and LG are responsible for everything, then a supposition of President’s Rule seems a far better possibility then this electoral blunder who’s only contribution is controversy. He says will not let PM sleep peacefully, but his squad of MLA frequently in conflict with law-seems to be sleeping ever since they came to power. The irrational and insensible negative vibes of criticism spread by Kejriwal is only putting him in the leagues of media-performers such as Lalu Prasad Yadav, Azam Khan, Mani Shankar Aiyar and Digvijay Singh. A caressing pat-on-the-back by the media is enough for him to vomit the venom of
irresponsibility.
