Cover Story : Your Time is Over Comrades!
Sahitya Akademi award is not just a recognition or monitory gains. It is more than that. One gets national and international fame as an intellectual through the publication of the awarded books and their translation in various languages. The entire world recognises the writer through that work.
The pseudo secularists, anti-majority, destroyers of Bharateeya cultural ethos and the ‘Kaum-Nasht’ progressive intelligentsia who are now shading crocodile tears over the pity issues, misused the country’s leading institutions to propagate their destructive and divisive ideology. They occupied all important academic and cultural institutes with the political support of pseudo secularists and constituted a gang to support, award and fund the regional, national and international projects on minorities, women empowerment, Dalits and Vanvasis. For the last 60 years, they have been implementing hidden agenda of those who are willing to weaken this nation by destroying/condemning our glorious social fabric.
Now since they have started the battle themselves, their unholy nexus, collaboration with foreign funding agencies should also be investigated. Today we find a parallel empire of NGOs, which work in all walks of life. They receive funding from government, corporate houses and foreign agencies. Undoubtedly, foreign funding always comes with certain hidden motives. In their respective areas of working they try to show that Bharateeya mainstream community (Hindus) is their real enemy since ages. Till the year 2014, foreign funding to these separatists was unchecked. Now as the Modi government has started checking, exposing and curbing their anti-national activities, they are trying to show their strength through resignations or foul cry.
Recover full amount The Sahitya Akademi awardees get many facilities which are permanent. Only 8 of the 28 writers who have announced to return the awards have sent letters in this regard to the Akademi, and only three have enclosed cheques of Rs one lakh each received by them as award money. The government should take harsh stand against such writers by initiating recovery-proceedings against them to recover award-money and other cost incurred by the Academy like publication of award-winning literature in many languages. All other honours including Padma awards should also be snatched from them as a deterrent against getting undue publicity after swallowing non-returnable benefits from Sahitya Akademi awards. —Subhash Agrawal, RTI Activist |
They are crying on killing of a Muslim on doubt of cow slaughter. But that matter was amicably resolved by the villagers themselves by joining hands for the wedding of a Muslim girl. This attempt of restoring harmony is quite normal and inherent in our blood. But if you see another side of this episode, you will find many so-called progressives coming forward posing that beaf eating is an essential habit of the Hindus. They even declare themselves as descendents of the rishis and according to them rishis were habitually beaf eaters.
—Prof. Tribhuvannath Shukl, President, Akhil Bharatiya Sahitya Parishad Executive Board member of Sahitya Akademi and also former director of Madhya Pradesh Sahitya Akademi Prof Tribhuvannath Shukla terms the protest by some Sahitya Akademi award winners as insult of the literature. Talking to Senior Correspon-dent of Organiser Pramod Kumar he demands that if they want to return the award they should return it with the amount they have received along with the interests of that amount and also the royalty they have received on their books. Excerpts
It is nothing but a political stunt. These Marxist writers are indulging in the politics of literature. The incidents of Dadri or killing of a writer some time back are no logics to return the awards. These awards were conferred on them for literature, but now they are insulting the same literature. If they had to return the awards for such reasons they should have done it earlier when more heinous incidents took place. Where were they when Kashmiri Hindus were forced to migrate from the Valley, Sikhs were massacred in 1984, Emergency was imposed in 1975, Salman Rushdie was denied entry at Jaipur Lit. Fest, or the culprits of Bhopal Gas tragedy which claimed the lives of over 15,000 innocent people were given the safe passage to leave the country?
All such questions are nagging the sensible people. This is not only dishonestly with literature, but also cheating with the nation.
Their target is not the Sahitya Akademi but the Central Government. But none of their allegations hold ground.
Tell me one incident when Freedom of Expression was curbed after the formation of this government at the Centre. Rather, why they have forgotten the Emergency of 1975? Can there be more dangerous curb on Freedom of Expression and Press than that? Rather, this was the same section of Leftist writers who by formally issuing a circular had supported the Emergency. How can the elements who supported Emergency now talk about curb on Freedom of Expression? They have no right. Fact is that they did not deserve such prestigious awards. They manipulated for the awards. Even then if they return the awards, we should welcome it. I would like to appeal to the Sahitya Akademi to pass a proposal ensuring that no Leftist is conferred on the Sahitya Akademi award in future, because they insult the literature. During the Lok Sabha elections the same group of Leftist writers went to the extent of issuing statements saying if Narendra Modi comes to power they will leave the country. A literary person unites the society, but they are dividing. |
Some people ask why there is so much cry during NDA-II. At the time of NDA-I, the BJP was not in majority and depended on the Samajwadis for support. Now the Government has full majority. Hence, they find no place in power corridors. Their foreign contacts too have stopped patronising them. Their sources of funding are also drying and they are being scanned too. In such circumstances their frustration is compelling them to act in such a manner. In future they may even be invited by their foreign sponsors to raise such issues at UNO, etc. But don’t worry, their time is over now.

Those who ‘bougt’ are returning —P. Valsala In a joint statement intellectuals from Kerala termed the return of Sahitya Akademi awards as “equal to sending old parents to old age homes.” The statement said the writers are least bothered about the most serious human rights violation and cultural attacks of the past. |
