Readers’ Forum : Organiser: 13. 9.2015
It is nice that Organiser dated 13.9.2015 has celebrated 1965 victory over Pakistan and published a few articles throwing light on various aspects of this event. Certainly, entire credit goes to our Armed forces for this victory. However, no light has been thrown on the negative part played by the then Prime Minister, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri. The biggest harm and demoralisation to our brave Jawans was done by him, by returning to Pakistan the Tharparkar District of Sindh, which was captured by our army, and had overwhelming Hindu majority. Some Hindu leaders from Tharparkar had requested the then Defence Minister Shri Y B Chavan and got assurance from him, that Tharparkar would not be returned to Pakistan. Inspite of it, Shri Shastri not only returned Tharparkar, but all other areas, including areas of Sialkot-Lahore and of Jammu and Kashmir, without anything or any guarantee in return. Thus Shastri frustrated the sacrifices done by our brave Armed Forces. This was a big disservice by Shastri to Bharat.

On Independence Day, even as we remember the sacrifices made by those who fought bravely for Bharat, it is a pity that after the celebrations is over, our national flag is strewn on the streets and people walk over them. Even when the national anthem is played, people no longer stand up. They remain glued to their mobile phones. As Bharateeyas, we must show respect for our national flag, national anthem and national song. It is because of the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters that we live in a free country as free citizens.

State set for Battle
(Organiser, 27.9.2015); This refers to the article ‘State set for Battle’ by Naveen Kumar in Organiser. That the politicians make strange bedfellows is evident from the alliance of the Congress, the Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Janata Dal (United). And now, the Aam Aadmi Party too has extended support. A pathetic infrastructure, massive unemployment, lawlessness, widening disparities due to decade of poor governance, have all become a euphemism for the jungle raj in Bihar. To exacerbate the existing state of affairs, the alliance is indulging in shrewd political maneuvering to garner votes. It is surprising that the very people who were demanding a special status for Bihar are now fuming at Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s announcement of a package worth rupees 1.25 lakh crore. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar should rather convince the voters with his party’s vision of developing infrastructure, providing opportunities to the youth, enhancing accountability and transparency in governance. The State cannot afford to remain a laggard.

Hypocrisy everywhere
Pakistan cancelled the National Security Advisor level talks with Bharat because it wants to continue with its anti- Bharat crusade, including cross-border terrorism and frequent violations of the ceasefire agreement. Pakistan is neither interested in peace with Bharat nor in the economic upliftment of its people, including the youth, by having peaceful relations and trade with a rapidly progressing Bharat. Shockingly, while the US has only warned of stopping financial aid to Pakistan, it hasn’t done anything in this regard. Ironically, on the other hand, the US is merely interested in capturing the rural and urban muscular markets of Bharat for its goods and services.
