The Odisha unit of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a State level dharna in front of the State assembly in Bhubaneswar on September 11 against the pathetic attitude of the State government towards education. More than 5,000 students participated in the dharna. Students from all across the State came to the capital and started an impressive rally from Rashtra Bhasha Prachar Samiti Ground to Lower PMG Chowk.  At lower PMG Chowk, the dharna and meeting was held.
Addressing the students, ABVP national general secretary Srihari Borikar said, “The entire higher education system in the State has collapsed, teachers and students are the worse sufferers. Hundreds of teachers’ posts are lying vacant. Basic infrastructure is not there in many Colleges and the Government is doing nothing in this regard.”  He demanded that the State government should fill up the vacancies immediately. State General Secretary Pramod Rout, joint secretary Priyadarshini Malik, State organising Secretary Govind Nayak, Tanmay Dash national executive member Bailochan Sahoo were also present.

Senior Pracharak KS Nagabhushan Bhagwat passes away

Senior Pracharak KS Nagabhushan Bhagwat passed away in Benga luru on September 16. He met with an accident while driving his two-wheeler near South End Circle. Immediately he was admitted to a private hospital. However, due to severe internal brain injuries, he passed away. He was 80. The last rites were performed at his native residence in Shivamogga. RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat, Sarkaryavah Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi, Sahsarkaryavah Shri Dattatreya Hosabale, Shri V Bhagaiah, Shri Mangesh Bhende, Shri K Suryanarayan Rao, Shri Dinesh Kamat, Shri Kajampady Subramanya Bhat of Parivar Prabodhan and many others expressed their condolences.
Nagabhushanji served as RSS Pracharak for the last 60 years. Born in March 25, 1936 at Shivamogga he completed B.Sc in 1954. He became a Pracharak in 1955. He served at Srirangapattana Nagar Vistarak for 6 months. Later, he was deputed to Mandya, Raichur, Chitadurga, Bellary as Zilla Pracharak for 16 years. Then he was given the responsibility of Karyalaya Pramukh of Keshavakrupa. During the ant-Emergency movement he was jailed in Bengaluru Prison. He also served as co-director of Hindu Seva Pratishtana. Later he was given the responsibilities of Vanavasi Kalyan Ashram and Vishwa Vibhag.    n


 

Hindu Jagran Manch to expand work in
all states

A three-day meeting of the Prant organising secretaries of Hindu Jagran Manch along with Kshetra and national leaders was held in Lucknow from 9 to 11 September. A total of 48 organising secretaries along with national organising secretary Shri Ashok Prabhakar and joint organising secretary Shri Kamlesh Singh participated in the meeting. Senior Pracharak Shri Madhubhai Kulkarni was also present.
The thrust of the meeting was to chalk out programmes and activities for the coming decade, the period reaching the year 2025, so that the organisation can effectively meet future challenges and help make the Hindu society tackle social problems. The organisational strength of Hindu Jagran Manch should be strengthened at all levels. Presently, it is active in 36 of the 42 Prants. The meeting had representation of 31 Prants. In the coming years, it aims to have units in all the 42 Prants.
The meeting focused on increasing the ideological commitment of the workers, building up active units in hitherto unrepresented areas as well as rejuvenating the existing ones, attempting to make programmes like Akhand Bharat Diwas and Shakti Pooja more successful, learning how to tackle with the cyber crime, using social media to involve the youth, meeting the challenges posed by Love Jihad and efforts to make the society aware of anti-national activities, etc. Shri Madhubhai Kulkarni, Shri Ashok Prabhakar, Shri Kamlesh Singh, Shri Trivikram Rao, Shri Harihar Nand, Shri Muruganandam, Shri Shiv Kumar, Shri Jagdish Karant, Suman, Shri Triloki Pandey and Shri Ajay Mittal addressed the sessions.

Despite various challenges and onslaughts the value and importance of Bharatiya family system is still intact. It is the real strength of the Hindu society. Strong roots basically provide strength to the society to face any kind of alien onslaught,” said RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat while speaking at the concluding ceremony of a two day meeting of columnists in Jaipur on September 13.
Shri Bhagwat said Hinduism believes that man and woman are two different expressions of the same tatva. Therefore, the stress is more on oneness of both instead of equality alone. He said it is our tradition to reject the wrong customs and accept and adopt the good values gained from anywhere. He stressed on analysing the Hindu values on scientific criteria and reject those which do not stand that scrutiny.
RSS Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh Dr Manmohan Vaidya, Sah Prachar Pramukh Shri J Nandakumar and Shri Mukul Kanitkar of Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal were also present. The meet was organised by Prachar Vibhag of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. Columnists from Maharashtra, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh took part in the meeting. Rashtra Sevika Samiti’s Alaka Inamdar, Sunila Sowani, Bharatiya Stree Shakti’s Naina Sahasrabuddhe, Rajasthan Finance Commission’s Jyothi Kiran, advocate Monica Arora, Dr Suvarn Rawal and Smt. Mrinalini Naniwadekar presented their views on various topics.    —Organiser Bureau


 

Nation remembers KS Sudarshan on 3rd death anniversary

Former RSS Sarsanghachalak the late KS Sudarshan was paid rich tribute on his third death anniversary all over the world on September 15. An Engineer by education, Shri Sudarshan dedicated his entire life to social cause. Born on June 18, 1931, Kuppahalli Sitaramaiya Sudarshan, became fifth Sarsanghachalak of RSS in March 2000 and served in that capacity till March 2009. He was considered to be one of the greatest known Hindutva ideologues in post-Independent Bharat, a great orator, strong advocate of swadeshi. He had passed away on September 15, 2012 at Raipur, Chhattisgarh.    —Organiser Bureau


 

Apprising children of rich cultural heritage

Saraswati Shishu  Bal Mandir (Pahar-ganj) run by Samarth Shiksha Samiti Delhi, celebrated Shri Krishna Janma-sthami with a difference. The school organised a big function at Talkatora Stadium on September 2. The event was named as ‘Sri Krishna Ananta Sagar’. The light and sound show on the life of Meerabai was hugely appreciated. Chief Guest on the occasion was Union Minister of State for Culture and Tourism Dr Mahesh Sharma and Member of Parliament Smt Meenakshi Lekhi. National secretary of Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas Shri Atul Kothari, national general secretary of Vidya Bharati Dr Lalit Bihari Goswami and president of Samarth Shiksha Samiti Shri Pravinkant were also present. The event successfully displayed the devotion of Meerabai to Sri Krishna. The prime objective of the event was to apprise the students of the rich cultural heritage of the country.     —Organiser Bureau
