RSS Sahsarkaryavah Shri Dattatreya Hosabale is in Nepal since April 26 to monitor the relief and rescue operation being carried out by the RSS and the other associated organisations’ workers. He visited Dhadid and Bhaktapur districts and also distributed relief material including blankets, tarpaulin and eatable items to the victims. Shri Hosabale apprised the media of the entire relief operation on April 30 in Kathmandu and applauded the relief and rescue work being carried out by the swayamsevaks. He said the immediate task before the rescue teams is to search the victims buried under debris. However he also indicated to help in the rehabilitation of the homeless victims in future.
According to reports from Kathmandu the activists of Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh Nepal, Jankalyan Pratishthan, Pragik Vidyarthi Parishad Nepal, Vishwa Hindu Parishad Nepal, Pashupati Shiksha Prasar Samiti Nepal, Janjati Kalyan Ashram swung into action within hours after the quake stroke the Himalayan Kingdom of Nepal on April 25. About 1,000 workers joined the relief and rescue operation round the clock. About 50 teams have been formed and some of them reached even the remotest areas where other agencies could not reach.
The swayamsevaks are working round the clock in Shantinagar, Anamnagar, Gaushala, Kalikasthan of Kathmandu and many other areas. They are providing eatable items to the victims in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Dhadid, Kabhre, Lalitpur, Nubakot, Rasuva, Ramechhap, Sindhupalchowk, Lagayat, etc.

An appeal from RSS Sarkaryavah Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi

The whole world is mourning due to the disaster in Nepal and India. India is facing casualties in the areas of Bihar, West Bengal, UP, Sikkim etc. It is our duty and responsibility that in such difficult situation, we should standby with our native country as a helping hand.
It is a relief to hear that Indian government is providing every possible help to the victims. Since the destruction is massive it is the duty of every Indian to come forward collectively as a helping hand for Nepal in such difficult time, and similarly to earthquake affected Indian areas. All volunteers can collect fund to help earthquake victims in their province with the help of registered organisations. All the material and fund will be transferred to Nepal and affected areas in India through the Rashtriya Sewa Bharati, Delhi and the Sewa International.

People from across the world can contact the Helpline set-up at the Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS) office in Kathmandu to know about their kith and kins who were in Nepal for pilgrimage or tourism. Till the time of writing this report information about over 6,000 such people was successfully received and passed on to their family members. Apart from it the swayamsevaks successfully rescued over 10,000 victims. They searched about 100 dead bodies and handed over them to their family members. Some teams are active in hospitals.
