How Vedic culture, civilisation and way of life are able to restore peace and prosperity in the world even today was witnessed in a conference which took place in Delhi from February 20 to 22. Vedic scholars from 40 countries including Christians, Buddhists, Jews, Muslims, atheists and humanist shared their experience and knowledge on Vedic education, technology, science, society, yoga, dhyan, etc.
The conference was organised jointly by the Foundation for Vedic India, Maharishi Veda Vyasa Pratisthan and the Brahma Vidya Peetham on the theme ‘Vedic Science and Modern Science to Re-establish Vedic Civilisation to make India a Lighthouse of the World’. Some research papers were also presented. Shankaracharya Swami Vasudeva-nanda Saraswati presided over the three day event in the presence of the VHP patron Shri Ashok Singhal.
Shankaracharyaji said Vedas are not confined to any religion or way of worship and they belong to all. Maharajadhiraj Raja Ram Prof. Tony Nadar from the US said India should feel proud of the Vedas. He said Vedas are for the entire universe and not for a particular country, community or the person. He said the Vedas remove darkness from the life and restore peace and happiness. Senior BJP leader Dr Murli Manohar Joshi said the Vedas are source of eternal knowledge and research into it must be promoted.
Chairman of Global Union of Scientists for Peace Dr John Hagelin said Vedic knowledge is must to make the world beautiful. He said if we have this knowledge we do not need the modern medicines. Vice president of Mata Amritnandamayi Muth Swami Amritswaroopananda said the Vedic traditions do not negate the life but inspire to embrace it. He stressed the need to mentally connect with the Vedas. Swami Govinddev Giri Maharaj, the founder president of Maharishi Vedvyasa Pratishthan, said he wants people from all across the world should come to India to study the Vedas.
Noted scientist Dr Vijay Bhatkar said the Vedas are the tools to know the world and restore peace. Former ISRO chief Dr G Madhvan Nair said what we are doing today through computer was done by our sages centuries back. He said we cannot know the Vedas without Sanskrit. Dr Subrama-nian Swamy said Vedic traditions talk about the welfare and prosperity of all. Prof. Michael Dillbeck from the US said one can get active knowledge and mental balance from the Vedas. Chairman of International Foundation of Consensus Based Education, US, Dr Susan Delbeke said the Vedas teach us the art to live an ideal life.
Swami Parmatmananda of Arsh Vidya Mandir said the Vedic culture teaches the limitations. Swami Vishveshwarananda of Sannyas Ashram, Mumbai, said the Vedas teach to do the karma. Dr Bevan Morris from the Mahrishi University of Management, US, said the Vedic education develops us completely. Founder of the SGVP International School Sadguru Shri Madhavdas said the Vedas provide solution to all problems of the world. Dr Keith Wales from the California University said the Vedas teach us how we can live a meaningful life without tampering with the nature.
On last day of the Conference Shri Nirmalanada Swamy from Adhichun-chungiri Math, Karnataka, said only the Vedic education can resolve our problems today. Dr Brian Reej from America said Shastras are the tools for achieving victory in the world. Yogaguru Baba Ramdev said Vedic Yoga is the real yoga. He said the Government of India should take effective steps to promote yoga. Dr E Hartman focused on Vastushastra. Swami Brahmdev said the Vedic education helps one to realise own power.                    —Bureau Report
