Bharati’s two-day national literary fest began in Agra on February 1. The topic of the Sammelan was the condition and direction of the literature in the era of globalisation. About 225 writers and literary persons from across the country joined the fest.

Shri ML Chhipa, Vice Chancellor of Atal Behari Vajpayee University, Bhopal, was the chief guest and noted educationist Shri Ramawatar Sharma presided over the inaugural ceremony. Prominent among those who were present on the occasion included Sanskar Bharati patron Baba Yogendraji, national joint secretary general Shri Ravindra Bharati, national organising secretary Shri Bankelal Gaur, etc

Shri Chhipa introduced the topic for discussion. He expressed concern over the present state of Indian literary scenario and urged the Sanskar Bharati to enter in this field also to improve the condition of Indian literature. He described the literature as mirror of the national culture. Shri Ramavatar Sharma stressed the need to connect the young generation with the literature. He said it is because of the young generation going away from the literature that they are going away from their roots.

In the second session, deputy director of Akashwani Delhi, Shri Somdatt Sharma expressed concern over the decline in literature. After that Shri Baldevbhai Sharma from National Dunia spoke on different forms of literature. The dignitaries also released a book, Gautam Gatha, written by Shri Shivdas Pandey on this occasion. An exhibition was organised by the literary persons of Agra under the leadership of Dr Shailbala.

In the evening, Shri Krishna Kumar Asthana, editor of Devputra, Shri Kanaihalal Chaturvedi, editor of Patheya Kan and noted poet Shri Basir Ahmed from Kota were felicitated. At the cultural evening noted Kathak dancer Dr Neelu Sharma led Saraswati Vandana. Smt Poonam Sharma performed Kathak dance. It was followed by Thumri dance. The cultural evening concluded with a play on Basant session.

Editor of Kalakunj Bharati, Shri Padmakant Prabhat, while speaking on concept of literature and challenges said only the writing having sensitivity is called literature. He said today the writers have to fight against the challenges of growing influence of alien culture, vulgarity and corruption of language. He said literature is an eternal medium of imparting samskar.
