Eulogising the place of women in the society, senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) functionary and Patron of Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) praised the Muslim women for their important role in promoting peace, communal harmony, unity and educating the women.

Shri Indresh Kumar was addressing a largely attended gathering of Muslim women from Varanasi and neighbour-hood on December 1. Former CIC Dr OP Kejriwal presided over the function organised by Muslim Mahila Foundation of Varanasi. Smt Nazneen Ansari and famous historian Anshuman Dwivedi were also present on the occasion.

Earlier, Shri Indresh Kumar along with the guests lit the traditional lamp and offered floral tributes at the portraits of Bharat Mata and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose with the chants of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Mataram’. It may be noted that responding to the appeal of Muslim Mahila Foundation, the RSS and MRM workers helped Colonel Nizamuddin, one time trusted colleague of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, in his grand-daughter’s marriage. The 112 year old Colonel is living in small village in Azamgarh district of UP in penury.

During the congregation Shri Indresh Kumar felicitated seven prominent Muslim women social activists for their noteworthy contributions in the field of social service, education, health, child nutrition etc. They included Shabana Bano, Shams Parveen, Sidra Nausad, Rafia Naseem, Rashika Praveen, Reshma Bano and Afsana Khan.

Dr OP Kejriwal held the society partly responsible for the social plight of the Muslim women along with the government. Once the Muslim women are educated then only they can participate in development of the country, he said. He appealed to them to educate their daughters and sisters so that they become self-reliant and contribute in the progress of the society and country.

President of Muslim Mahila Foundation Nazneen Ansari said  they would not be silent spectator to exploitation of women folk. She blamed the so-called patrons and well wishers of Muslims for their apathy towards education and progress of Muslim women. She said Muslim women would not remain silent and raise their voice against their exploitation. She also stressed on education of Muslim women.

The Conference adopted resolutions on providing self-employment to Muslim women and make 2000 families self-reliant; to speak out against exploitation of women; and to honour other religions to enhance the prestige of Islam; denouncing terrorism in the name of jehad or Islam; separate mosque for women; providing free legal aid to them; and open colleges for their education.
