In Gujarat, before the midday meal is distributed, it is tasted by five members of non-teaching and teaching staff including the principal of the school. This is done 15 minutes before the distribution. Added to this is the provision of inspection of the meal three days a week by administrative officials of the rank of SDM and above. The days of inspection are randomly and secretly selected. That’s why incidents such as those of Bihar and Delhi are foreign to this State. This is Modi governance, of which Gujarat is rightly proud of, and Bihar , Delhi et al are deprived of.

Kashmir: Time to go on offensive (Organiser, 21.7.2013) This refers to ‘Kashmir: Time to go on offensive’ by Shri MV Kamath, in Organiser. Outwardly, his suggestion, that immediately following the attack on Army convey (On June 24, in Srinagar that killed eight soldiers and wounded about a dozen), India should have bombed some of the known jihadi terrorist camps in Pakistan, seems to be quite good and effective. But such simplism would do more harm to India, and would be in the interest of Islamic Pakistan. This bombing of terrorist camps inside Pakistan can be useful only if India first becomes a Hindu rashtra, just as Pakistan is an Islamic nation. The term Hindu includes Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists and all indigenous sects and subsects. If Shri Kamath’s suggestion is acted upon, it would create a number of problems. Our first priority must be of making India a homeland for the Hindus, just as Pakistan is homeland for the Muslims. If we cannot fulfill this requirement, we are bound to suffer for all the times to come. Nobody can save us.

Respect Bharat India became a sovereign nation on August 15, 1947 with the tri-colour flag hoisted at the Red Fort in Delhi. On August 15, 2013, the country will celebrate her 66th Independence Day. It is a day for us to celebrate with the flag-hoisting, recitation of our national anthem, and other patriotic songs and organising cultural programmes as well. As Indians, we also keep remembering the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters who bravely fought for our country’s Independence and pay our due respects to them. But sadly, after every Independence Day and Republic Day celebrations, the country’s national flag is strewn on roads and people keep stamping on it. Don’t we have respect for our country’s national flag and anthem? Even when the national anthem is played on radio or telecasted on television, people don’t stand still and sing it. They are busy talking on their mobile phones or chatting with their friends.

When will we wake-up? Two negative qualities the so-called seculartva and corruption are being nurtured by our politicians and the people are religiously following their footsteps, taking the country to the brink of disaster. Bribery has become a part of our economy. The so-called seculartva has destroyed faith in one self and that in turn a sense of stability. Faith in every sphere i.e. political, social and moral, etc. will take one in the right path and instil patriotic fervor to love one’s motherland otherwise the meaningless word, the so-called seculartva will only bring imbalance and instability as it has done in Bharat. Mahatma Gandhi and Nehru who raised their voice to attain freedom lost their way and their mistakes, a legacy which the government of ours is following has landed Bharat in dire distress and unrest. When will we wake-up to give the clarion call to end the scourge of corruption and proclaim with pride that Hinduism is our religion and patriotism runs in our blood.

The women in India (Organiser, 21.7.2013) The article ‘The women in India’ by Mridula Sinha in Organiser is a well written article and deals with how women should be projected by media to the outer world, which is really a hard and complicated topic to discuss about in a country like India where on one hand we talk about advancement and development but on the other hand cling to our traditions whether they are right on wrong. This stops media to show women as completely independent and liberal. To some extent media also wants its products to be sold and acceptable to a larger and wider range of people and that is the only reason that it cannot act conscientious while depicting the face of women. But if media really wants to be the fourth pillar in real sense, it should definitely take ‘responsibility as higher its personal objectives’.
