The symbiosis of Mulayam and Congress

The suspicions of a deal between Congress and Mulayam Singh Yadav grew stronger when a leaked CBI report said that CBI is about to drop the investigation against Mulayam Singh and his son Akhilesh Yadav in disproportionate assets case. The petitioner in the case Vishwanath Chaturvedi has alleged that Congress is pressurising CBI to drop the case in order to get support of SP for Food Security Bill. Shri Chaturvedi also said that he’s going to appeal against the SC’s order which let off Shri Mulayam Singh’s daughter-in-law Dimple Yadav from the probe. Meanwhile CBI Director Ranjit Sinha has ordered inquiry to find out who leaked the information on report.

Ex CJI’s verdict criticised by present CJI

Controversies surrounding Ex CJI Shri Altamas Kabir doesn’t seem to end. A bench headed by incumbent CJI P. Sathasivam has criticised a decision delivered by Shri Kabir in a key case. A bench headed by Shri Kabir granted relief to a construction firm ‘Jaiprakash Associates’ by putting stay on lower courts order. Commenting on this CJI Sathasivam said “these orders should not have been passed.”

Recently there were reports in media about the “leakage” of Shri Kabir’s judgment on National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) even before it was delivered. Moreover it was highlighted much that the NEET verdict and another key judgment of denying any reservation at super-specialty level in AIIMS were delivered hours before his demitting office.

Argumentative Amartya turns Dictatorial

Renowned Nobel-laureate Shri Amartya Sen was under heavy criticism for commenting against Gujarat CM Narendra Modi. On Monday July 22, Sen said that as an Indian citizen he doesn’t want Modi as his PM. He added that Modi hasn’t done enough to make minorities feel secure. Leaders like Dr. Subramanian Swamy and Dr. Chandan Mitra criticised Shri Sen and questioned his credentials as an Indian. Congress party grabbed this opportunity and used Shri Sen’s statement in its on-going ‘anti-Modi’ campaign.

Vincent George Case: Another bid to Misuse CBI foiled

On July 24, a Delhi court rejected CBI’s report closing the disproportionate assets case and summoned Vincent George as an accused, saying there is sufficient material to proceed against him. The court found sufficient ground to proceed case for the offence punishable Under Section 13(1)(e) of Prevention of Corruption Act(PCA) relating to possession of assets by a public servant disproportionate to known sources of income. He summoned in the case for August 30. An FIR was registered against George in 2000 in which he was alleged to have been in possession of disproportionate assets from November 1984 to December 1990. He is facing allegations of amassing property, disproportionately to his known source of Income while holding the office of public servant as private secretary to former Prime Minister and the then Leader of Opposition Rajiv Gandhi. Incidentally, Vincent George is known to be a close aide of the Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
