125th birth anniversary of S Ramanujan in Thrissur

Bharatheeya Vidyabhyasa Vikasana Kendram organised a function in Thrissur on December 22 to celebrate the 125th birth anniversary of noted mathematician Sreenivasa Ramanujan. Madhav Ganith Kendram, a centre for showcasing Indian contribution to mathematics and for popularising the Vedic mathematics, was also inaugurated on the occasion. The first Samgamagraama Madhav Ganitha Puraskar was also presented on this occasion to Sri C Krishnan Namboothiri, recognising his outstanding contribution in the field of education.

The Ganith Kendram was inaugurated by Shri Atul Kothari, national secretary of Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas. In his speech, he described S Ramanujan as the greatest mathematician of the world. Prof EV Narayanan, state president of Vidyabhyasa Vikasana Kendram, presided over the function. Many eminent mathematicians, teachers and students were present on the occasion.(FOC)
