It is very humbling to read about the lives of such titans. It also made me sad that the subsequent bureaucracy of our nation has got so bad that we made it impossible for his nephew (another nobel laureate in physics, Shri Chandrasekhar) to come and teach/work in India. Naipaul’s progressive views on Indian history (Organiser,18.11.2012); This refers to ‘Naipaul’s progressive views on Indian history—Girish Karnad riled for misdemeanour’ in Organiser. It has been stated that “Girish Karnad went on to say that Naipaul only won the prize because of horrific events of 9/11, as it made the west deeply distrustful of Islam.” This Karnad accepts, that people in the western countries are not traitors like him. They rely on facts. Only one happening of 9/11 has made them alert towards Islamic terrorism. On the other hand, we the Hindus in India have been suffering for centuries together from Islamic terror, still we have not only one Karnad, but countless traitors even today like him, Kuldip Nayars, Laloos, Mulayams, Manmohan Singhs, and all Congress leaders and allies. This tradition of treachery was started by Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi and his pet Jawaharlal Nehru. These anti-Hindu/anti-national leaders have created so many irreversible problems, that our very existence is in danger. The pity is that the Hindus in general continue to sleep and are least bothered about what is happening to their country. They are busy in petty matters and quarreling against each other on the basis of caste, language, region, etc. Instead of aping bad habits of the west, we should learn from them how to face Islamic terror.

Unjustified tirade against Mamata (Organiser, 25.11.2012); I am intrigued upon reading my good friend Shri R Balashankar’s editorial on Mamata Banerjee in Organiser. I feel that Balashankarji is not armed with all the facts about Mamata. Banerjee and her regime — which is not surprising, as the misdeeds of her regime are not at all adequately reported in the media. It is quite true that Mamata Banerjee has removed the 34-year old albatross called the Left Front government from the neck of the people of West Bengal. That is why, when it seemed that the defeat of the Left was imminent, the people en masse voted for her because the primary task, quite rightly seemed to be to get rid of the curse called the Communist government. And this was done. However Mamata Banerjee is fast losing popularity as a result of some of her negative policies and arrogant attitute, especially in the urban areas of the State. However, it is a matter of regret that many nationalists from outside West Bengal are unaware about the drawbacks of Mamata’s government and tend to romanticise Mamata and her regime. It is a grave mistake. It may, in the worst-case scenario, even result in the dismemberment of West Bengal and the North-East.

Bangla Muslim infiltrators attack Bodo villages, torch houses, hamlets (Organiser, 5.8.2012); This is with reference to the front page article in Organiser, ‘Bangla Muslim infiltrators attack Bodo villages, torch houses, hamlets. This is nothing but UPA sponsored communal violence to promote Islamisation of Assam and to fortify the unholy and treacherous Islamic vote-bank. Muslims, be Bangladeshi or Indian, are being pampered and motivated by the Congress to kill Hindus in a way as to glaringly promote Muslim votes to Congress-I directly or to its allies. We Hindu should have our own system to protect ourselves by forming a “Hindu Protection Force’ in all its true sense and spirit. Kokhrajhar district in Assam is facing problem of communal violence since past 60 years. Congress has done nothing to check this violence. Infact they are promoting communalism by promoting Muslim quota and providing them free education, interest free loans, Haj subsidy, etc, at the cost of tax paid by the Hindus. Dhubri is a hot bed of illegal migrants. Why our Home Minister is not taking any action to save the Indians residing there. Even the adjacent Goalpara district is being badly encroached upon by Bangladeshi infiltrators. As demanded by local Assam leaders and Bodo Council chief Hagrama Mahiliary I also demand that Assam Border with Bangladesh be effectively sealed and unity, integrity and sovereignty of India should be protected. I also support Promod Boro, president of All Bodo Students Union that the recent communal violence is a conspiracy being hatched at the international level by PAN Islamic forces with the full support of UPA. Under these circumstances Hindus of Assam should unite and fight the infiltrators. I congratulate Organiser for exposing this conspiracy and State sponsored communal violence.

Terminate this social ill In an environment that is increasingly becoming perilous for women and girl child—born and yet to be born—the news that Gujarat has sought stringent rules to prevent illegal scale of drugs which facilitate the termination of pregnancy should be welcomed. Gujarat’s Food and Drug Authority has written to the Drug Controller General of India to ensure that medicines for medical termination of pregnancy are not available over the counter. The move comes in the wake of numerous complaints by doctors and health activists over the serious implications of the unbridled sale of the drugs Mifepristone and Misoprostol. These are prescription drugs that can, and should, be strictly dispensed by doctors and medical practitioners qualified for MTP procedures. At least that is what the 1971 MTP Act makes compulsory

UPA is playing ducks and drakes It is surprising that the UPA-2 Government, which should have resigned the moment its ministers were imprisoned in connection to several scams that rocked the nation, is still playing ducks and drakes to stick to power like a limpet. Another surprise is the conduct of BSP chief Mayawati and Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav. Instead of pulling down the Congress-led UPA 2 they are brazenly supporting it. The government which had suffered policy paralysis for three years, suddenly jumps and tosses up the so-called ‘big bang reforms’, which are ruse to divert people’s attention from the Coalgate and other related scams. On the hand, Bihar chief Minister Nitish Kumar says that his party will support any government that accords a ‘special status’ to Bihar. What is happening?

True democracy Out of the rarest of the rare cases,here we have a good example to show that even in a country like India true democracy is practised.Recently Janata Dal(S),the party led by former Prime Minister of India, HD Deva Gowda,which happens to be an Opposition Party in Karnataka Assembly, criticised Cong-I Party of Karnataka State (which also happens to be an Opposition Party in Karnataka Assembly)for not pressurising their senior leaders at Centre and seeking justice to Karnataka in Cauvery Water sharing.The statement thus made of course went indirectly in favour of the ruling BJP Party in Karnataka in this regard. We should not forget that true democracy ultimately is for the people, irrespective of any political party,religion or region.

Hinduism a way of life (Organiser, 9.12.2012); Apropos of ‘Hinduism a way of life in Organiser by Dr Sitesh Alok. I most respectfully state that, while highlighting the basic tenets of ‘Hinduism’ and the existing society of the middle ages, the author missed many aspects of history. The introduction of Islam in India was performed by the saints, traders and travelers who did their jobs perfectly in a peaceful manner.
These basic facts of the contemporary history of the conquest of north Indian plains by the Central Asian chiefs of martial tribes and races who were converted to Islam and who earlier belonged to Buddhism or were pagans, is also neglected by the author. It is also an undeniable fact of Indian history that Buddhism or Jainism did not make their followers adopt merely a non-violent cult and they did not do armed struggle. The rulers of Odisha (Ashoka), Gujarat (Balaharas), Rajasthan (Rajputs) or Sindh (Medhas) were all brilliant and brave fighters. It is also a fact that Buddhism and Jainism flourished in these regions. The attacks on India by Huns in the north-east or Mongols in the north-west were mainly repulsed by the rulers of the slave dynasties (Balbans and Tughlaqs) of the Delhi Sultanate’s period. Hence to study history or religion with a particular bent of mind of Hindutva is highly objectionable and non academic. It might turn communities following different faiths, hostile to each other and sow seeds of hatred among them.
