To commemorate Swami Vivekananda’s epoch-making address at the World Parliament of Religions at Chicago on 11th September, the Bharateeya Vichara Kendram organised a Mass Suryanamaskar function at Putharikandam Maidan of Thiruvananthapuram.

Delivering the presidential address, Swamy Tatwaroopananda of Sri Ramakrishna Ashram, Thiruvanantha-puram, said the world came to know of the universal harmony imbibed in our vedic dharma through the mouth of Swamiji. “We are children of the great tradition and we should be strong, bold and fearless. By being physically strong, we can be mentally strong, rebuild our inbuilt strength and attain bliss. We can develop divinity in every human being,” Swamiji had said.

Speaking at the function, Padmasri P Parameswaran, director of  BVK, said Swami Vivekananda was the lucky son of Bharat, who in five minutes became the official spokesman of the 5000 years old culture of Bharat. “He cleared wrong notions about Bharat, forcing the West to condemn themselves for the idiocy of sending missionaries to Bharat. He awoke the slumbering Bharat and made her aware of its greatness. He was an ideal to Gandhi, Nehru, Bose, Rajaji and Savarkar and gave impetus to freedom struggle. The present day India steeped in communalism and corruption is far below Swamiji’s expectations. The youth have a role in rebuilding Bharat by increasing spiritual strength and becoming ‘Digvijayi Vivekananda.’ India needs lakhs and lakhs of Vivekanandas to purify it and make it ‘Vishwa Guru.’ This is our true samarpan to Vivekananda,” he added.
