Preparations for Nanda Raj Jat Yatra begin
THE preparations for Shri Nanda Raj Jat Yatra are in full swing. Though the Yatra will be conducted in August next year, preparations have been started well in advance as the devotees do not depend upon the government at all for it. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Smt Sushma Swaraj and Pramukh Sanchalika of Rashtra Sevika Samiti Shantakka Tai will address a special conference of workers in Dehradun in this regard on October 15.
According to vice chairman of the Yatra Samiti and Rajya Sabha MP Shri Tarun Vijay, the Yatra is one of the greatest and unique Hindu pilgrimages. It is the yatra of Maa Nanda Devi (Parvati), Uttarakhand’s presiding deity, towards the Kailas. It involves 280 kms of arduous trek, involving high altitude rare forest of bio diversity and grass lands with indescribable beauty like Bedini Bugyal. The previous yatra took place in the year 2000 and now it is for the first time that the Yatra is taking place after the formation of Uttarakhand. The Yatra is expected to see more than one lakh pilgrims.
The first leg of the preparatory Yatra was flagged off in New Delhi by BJP national president Shri Nitin Gadkari in the presence of top Uttarakhand leaders including Shri Shri Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Shri BS Chufal, Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, Shri Prakash Pant, Shri Harbans Kapoor, Shri Suresh Pasi and many others. Shri Shiv Prakash, Kshetra Pracharak of RSS attended the programme in Haldwani. The Rashtra Sevika Samiti, Bajarang Dal, ABVP, VHP and the BJYM are also supporting the preparations of the Yatra.
