Assertive role of women is needed in revitalising social values —Pramilatai Medhe”Motherhood is a state of mind and not restricted to a biological process. It means to create, nourish, nurture and protect. What to create, what to nourish and what to protect require discretion and wisdom. All these three should aim towards welfare of all. A mother inculcates all these samskars informally through her behaviour and family rituals,” said Pramukh Sanchalika of Rashtra Sevika Samiti Pramilatai Medhe while speaking at the concluding ceremony of Vishwa Samiti Varga held in Hubli from July 22 to August 5. A total of 52 women activists underwent training at the camp.
Underlying that assertive role of Hindu women is needed in revitalising social values, the Samiti chief said to protect the samskars in spite of contrasting atmosphere is also very essential. Hindu chintan means caring and sharing for every creation for its happiness and contentment. It comes out of mental satisfaction. We have always strived for it. But that contentment and peace is heavily attacked by the materialistic philosophy aimed at encouraging market-oriented commercial views. The instruments are multinationals, Malls and a section of media. There is a vast contrast between their attitude and ours,” she added.
She said the multinationals companies and a section of media sponsored by them are also trying to disturb the ethos of the country by alluring the youths towards material enjoyment, making them forget their identity and commitment to ennoble the world by their eternal values. “We have to protect Bharat from all these nefarious attacks. The women in special should be more assertive to discharge their role in revitalising the nation and defeating the vile intentions of these agencies to present them as a saleable market commodity or play things,” she said.
Presiding over the ceremony Dr Meena Chandawarkar, Vice Chancellor of Mahila Vidyapeeth, Bijapur, spoke about the difference between education and culture. She said education is a precious diamond and culture is radiation – a glow of diamond. In this age of industrialisation you should open three factories, ice factory in head, sugar factory in mouth and love factory in heart. Then your life will be satisfactory. Respect and adjustment for elders learning to live together and adjusting with food and place will make your life totally enriched, empowered and adaptable,” she said.
In her message Tibetan leader Dolama Geyari expressed thanks for supporting the Tibetan people and their struggle for freedom, peace and justice. Two participants, Meera from Trinidad and Janaki from Kenya, expressed their feelings in a very emotional way for being identified with Bharat and carry these feelings with them.                           (FOC)
