Dada Bhai passes away

Senior Sangh activist, Giriraj Shashtri, who was popularly known as Dada Bhai, passed away in Jaipur on March 13. He was 93.

Born on September 9, 1919 under Bharatpur district he came into the Sangh contact in 1942 and first became a Vistarak after completing 10th standard. Later he became a Pracharak and held various responsibilities. He was Nagar Pracharak in Seekar in 1946, Seekar Zila Pracharak in 1947 and Seekar-Jhunjhunu Zila Pracharak in 1948. He was Prant Karyavah for 40 years from 1953 to 1992. Till 1998 he held the Sangh responsibility of Kshetra Prachar Pramukh, later in 1999 he became an executive member of Uttar Paschim Kshetra.

He also played a key role in starting the Sanskrit magazine, Bharati Patrika, in 1950. He was also chairman of Patheya Kan Sansthan for many years. Known for his multi-farious personality and contributions, Dada Bhai will be remembered as a great organiser and creative thinker.

Maganlal Mehta is no more

$img_titleSenior swayamsevak of Tamil Nadu Maganlal Mehta passed away on February 28 at Karaikudi under Sivagangai district. Many senior Sangh adhikaris including Sah Prant Sanghachalak Sri Kuppuram participated in the funeral.

As an ordinary person from Ratalam district of Madhya Pradesh, he came and settled in Karaikudi for his diamond business. He was a dedicated and hard working person with sharp business acumen, accounting skills and depth knowledge of diamonds.

A swayamsevak for more than 60 years he attended shakha daily.  His residence was the stay place for all Sangh Adhikaris. Shri Guruji also stayed at his residence when he came to Karaikudi to have darshan of Kanchi Maha Periyava, camping at Ilayathankudi village near Karaikudi.  Maganlalji participated in the satyagraha of 1948 and was imprisoned. He also participated in the satyagraha on Kashmir issue. Maganlal Mehta, who was good at drawing, drew many pictures including Dr Hedgewar and Shri Guruji – which were well appreciated.
