Shri Madhukar Limaye was presented with ‘Our North-East India Award’ by Shri LK Advani in a function held at Swatantryaveer Savarkar Sabhagriha. This annual award is instituted by My Home India, an organisation, engaged in creating an awareness and a sense of concern about North-East India in the rest of the country. The award is given to a person who has made significant contribution to strengthen national solidarity in North-East. It consists of a memento and one lakh rupees in cash.
While addressing the packed audience Shri Advani said that by honouring Shri Madhukar Limaye we are honouring Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh which have produced many dedicated pracharaks like him. Madhukarji represents hundreds of devoted pracharaks who have helped North-East India in retaining its national fabric. While remembering his early days as pracharak in Sindh and Rajasthan Shri Advani said that it was RSS ideology which inspired him to serve the nation.
In reply to the felicitation Shri Madhukar Limaye said that RSS has taught him not to receive anything from others but only to give. He said that he will be returning the award money to the society.
Welcoming the guests earlier Shri Sunil Deodhar, the founder and executive vice president of ‘My Home India’ cited many inspiring instances from the long tenure of Shri Limaye. He also enlightened the audience about various issues of North-East such as Chinese infiltration, Bangladeshi infiltration, terrorism and drug trafficking.
The function was presided over by national president of Sanskar Bharati and eminent Marathi film director Rajdatta.
The function began with the rendering of Veer Savarkar’s Marathi song by the Smt. Leishram Mema, the famous singer from Manipur and ended with pasaydan.
