“Kill us instead of deporting to Pakistan” (Organiser, 25.12.2011); It is indeed heart wrenching to read the plight of Pakistani Hindus in Organiser. There were some reports in the media in this regard, but the horrible scenes that have been described in the reports of Organiser are really heartbreaking. You have done a great job by documenting the plight of these unfortunate people, as even we the Hindus of India were not deeply aware of the agony of these people. The Government of India must grant them political asylum without delay and should also make a constitutional provision that the Hindus born in any part of the world can get Indian citizenship at any stage of their life, if they are tortured there.

Bhagwad Gita is the heart and soul of the great Indian civilisation (Organiser, 1.1.2012); The move by a Russian court to impose a ban on the Gita on the ground that the sacred book encourages hatred was absured. In Mahabharat, of which the Gita is a part, Arjun is directed by his guru Lord Krishna to fight his cousins and others who had cheated the Pandavas of their kingdom and molested and humiliated their wife Draupadi. Lord Krishna did not preach hatred or revenge but exhorted his friend-disciple to reinstate moral order. Eventually, all is well that ends well. The rejection by a Russian court of a petition seeking a ban on the book, The Bhagavad Gita As It Is, brings the curtain down on what has been an absurd demand by a bunch of fanatics in Tomsk, a town in Siberia, to ban the book because it promotes ‘extremism’ among Russian’s various communities.

Banning Gita is equal to slighting Bharat! (Organiser, 1.1.2012); Since its publication Bhagwad Gita has been translated into 60 languages including Russian and is widely considered among the best selling Indian texts in the world. There is nothing wrong in the 18 chapters of Gita and in no way it can be connected to terrorism. It is just the story of Mahabharat. Moreover, a number of western thinkers have immersed themselves in the Gita, its layers reflecting the difficulties—and ultimately simplicity—of human life.

Congress in Lokpal tangle (Organiser, 1.1.2012); The Lokpal issue happened to be a test of sincerity for the parliamentarians in fighting corruption. But the present lot has not only failed in it but also has injected the virus of caste and religion-based reservations even in the proposed Lokpal body. Democracies thrives on politics which unites society and takes a nation forward. Unfortuntely, the case is just the opposite in the largest democracy of the world, where politics is all about divide and rule. The UPA government deliberately brought a Bill with controversial provisions so that it does’nt get clearance and the government could then blame the BJP and other Opposition parties.

Manmohan jettisoning economy to help sinking Euro zone (Organiser, 4.12.2011) This is with reference to the front page news item ‘Manmohan jettisoning economy to help sinking Euro zone’ and articles, ‘UPA sinking India for saving doomed Euro zone’ and ‘Clueless UPA demure at World Economic Summit’ on page 2 and 3 of your esteemed weekly. All these articles, are thought provoking, timely and highly informative. What a layman understands today is that without discussing in the Parliament or without any consent form the electorates the UPA Government is committing treason by trying to save Euro zone at the cost of India. I have been always saying that the Congress is the government of the foreign powers and for the foreign powers but unfortunately been managed by Indians who are their agents. My stand has been proved by your article. Euro zone is an ‘Imperialistic Zone’ and it must go so that other peace loving nations can rise and prosper. Euro Zone prospered all these years at the cost of other developing nations. Now let them turn to bankruptcy and let those who were looted earlier now prosper and loot these looters. Reforms by the IMF, WB and UNSC will come only when developed countries sink financially. Let West sink so that the desired reforms become a reality.

UPA government has no guts to take action Nation is quite aware of how Varun Gandhi, youth leader and BJP MP was arrested under National Security Act by the Mayawati government during his campaign for the last Lok Sabha elections. her government had contended that his address was inflamatory, provocative, creating enemity between the two communities and also dangerous to the national security. What he had said in his speech? He had only said that whosoever oppose Hindutva, their hands should be chopped off. Hue and cry was raised on his statement. Entire pseudo-secularist brigade appreciated Mayawati and welcomed his arrest under NSA. If so what about warning and threat given by the so-called activist of human rights, Prof Syed Abdul Rahaman Geelani of Delhi? He has warned that if Afzal is send to gallows there will be conflagration in the entire the Kashmir Valley. Inspite of this not a single so-called secularist came forward to condemn his statement nor demanded his arrest under NSA and sedition. See their double standard.

Pak schools foster Hindu hatred: US This is with reference to news in Organiser, dated 27.11.2011 under the heading ‘Pak schools foster Hindu hatred: US’. It has been mentioned in the US government report, that “Social Studies textbooks in Pakistan are rife with negative comments regarding India and Great Britain, but Hindus are often singled out for particular criticism in texts and in interview responses.” It is worth noting, that this report is by the US government and not by any Hindu or Indian organisation. On the other had, government of India and most of the Hindu and Indian NGO organisation are busy in appeasement of Pakistan, and hope for good relations, which is nothing more than a mirage. No wonder that very recently three Hindus brother doctors have been gunned down, and condemning of these killings by Pakistan Prime Minister Yusaf Raza Gilani as per report in The Tribune dated 10.11.2011, is nothing more than lip sympathy, only to befool Indian leadership. India government must take this issue of teaching hatred against Indian and Hindus with the Pakistan government at the highest level, otherwise such gunning down of Hindus in Pakistan, and terrorism by Pakistani nationals in India would go on increasing. It is not only the maulavis and madrasas that teach hatred against the Hindus and non-Muslims, but it is the official policy of government of Pakistan to teach Hindu hatred to young boys and girls in schools as part of their curriculum. I would suggest, that BJP should take up this issue in the Parliament and ask Manmohan Singh to speak to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, who has issued a certificated to his Pakistani counterpart as ‘A man of Peace’.

Ataturk and triumph of nationalism over Islam Apropos the letter of Tanveer Fatima under the caption given above (Organiser, September 11, 2011). She has objection for reviewing the book Ataturk. An intellectual Biography at a time when pro-Islam wind is blowing and Mustafa Kamal’s figure as the pioneer of Turkish nationalism is on decline. The very tone of this letter exposes her inherent mind that nationalism is abhorent for her as regards Islam. It means Islam is above nationalism. She also feels happy in her heart that the stigma of the ‘sickman’ of Europe adhered to Turky could not be removed in spite of Turkish nationalism’s revival. As per the wordings of this letter, Islam is supreme and nationalism has no value and power as compared to Islam in her eyes. But here one may like to enquire from her, if nationalism is so meaningless as compared to Islam, then why there are nearly five dozen ‘Islamic Nations’ ? Why are they fighting ferocious wars amongst themselves such as those of Iraq-Iran wars; Pakistan’s internal war that created Bangladesh and such others. Nationalism prevails over Islam in every Islamic country. Even so called Arab countries are not one single entity in spite of all of them following the same type of Islam. It appears that the very cause of her concern is that Ataturk was a very revolutionary and staunch nationalist hero of Turky, which was till then under the shadow of ‘Arab Cultural Imperialism’. He was bold and courageous enough to dethrone the ‘Khalifa’ and establish a secular democratic regime under him. Arabs and to those who are their cultural slaves, the name of Kamal Ataturk will always pinch in their innermost heart. Can Tanveer Fatima say that she is not one of them?

Parliamentarians can set standards Parliament is now no more a civilized place. India is going through dangerous times as the very symbol of democracy is under scrutiny. With walkouts and adjournments becoming the norm in the Parliament, people feel cheated. The quality of debates and discussions in the House has dipped beyond imagination. The Prime Minister doesn’t want to engage in any debate with the Opposition. It’s true that politicians can’t expect people to respect an institution till they start respecting it themselves.

Anna still has support of people The Congress and its supporter have been trying to mislead the country by saying that Anna Hazare is playing politics in the hands of the BJP and targetting the Congress. But the truth is that Anna is fighting for a national cause, i.e. removal of corruption that covers all the political parties. Despite the various attempts by the Congress to weaken Anna’s movement by making baseless allegations against him and his team members, about 55 per cent of Indians continue to support Anna. The nation wants a strong Lokpal Bill and it wants the PM and the CBI to be covered under it.
