NEWS ROUND-UP-4 & 5

—Pravin Togadia

Condemning strongly the very act of even admitting a case in the court of Tomsk in Russia’s Siberia, which terms the Bhagwad Gita as a propagation of terror and a black book, newly appointed VHP International Working President Dr Pravin Togadia demanded immediate dismissal of the case and prosecution against those who dared to file such an obnoxious case against the religious scripture revered so highly by Bharat’s majority.

Dr Togadia also questioned the Government of India’s studied silence on this issue for such a long time as even during the visit of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to Russia last week, there was mute silence on his part on this issue hurting majority of the Hindus and global devotees of Bhagwan Sri Krishna immensely. Dr Togadia welcomed the delayed but powerful unanimous voice raised by almost all Members of Parliament of Bharat against the case.

Dr Togadia said the Bhagwad Gita is not a mere book but she is God by Herself for the Krishna devotees and the Hindus. He questioned the very motive by the Russian Government to even allow such a case to be admitted. He warned that if the case continues and the Bhagwad Gita is banned, the entire Bharat will express feelings by public agitations against Russian goods, Russian plans and offices as well as against the Government of India if it allows the ban by anyone anywhere.

Lok Bharati to celebrate Ganga Sankalp Diwas on January 15

Lok Bharati, a leading voluntary organisation of Uttar Pradesh, has appealed to the people living in the districts, developmental blocks, pilgrimage places and ghats of the Ganga from Gangotri to Ganga Sagar, to observe Ganga Samagra Diwas at their nearest water resources on January 15, 2012. The celebration will generate awareness among the people towards the respect of water recourses.  According to convener of the Ganga Samgara Shri Brijendra Pal Singh, in all the functions, the people will pledge for not polluting the water resources including the Ganga by way of throwing garbage, polythine bags, plastic articles, using detergent or soaps, adding polluted water and throwing dead animals. The Lok Bharati has been conducting activities for the protection of rivers and traditional water resources. This year it conducted many activities for the protection of Gomati River.
