SHRI Pratik Potom, president of Arunachal Vikas Parishad, appealed to the State Government to implement the Freedom of Religion Act 1978 to protect the indigenous religions of Arunachal Pradesh in letter and spirit. He said there are some agencies which want to repeal the Act. But the need of the hour is to implement it more intensely as the alien religions are flourishing at the cost of indigenous religions. He was addressing a Peace Rally, organised by Rangfraa Faith Promotion Society (RFPS) at Changlang to commemorate the 5th anniversary of RFPS.

In spite of bad weather 5000 strong Rangfraaites from 64 Rangfraa Faith Mandirs of Changlang and Tirap districts attended the Rally, which showed both strength and devotion. Narrating the significance of the Day, Er L Khimun, secretary general of RFPS, stated that the Rangfraites are not against any religion and believe that all religions can lead the man towards the attainment of spiritual solace. But he firmly asserted that if any one wants to restrict Rangfraa religion, RFPS would not care for them and would go ahead boldly with their God-given mission to motivate the people towards spirituality. He said the Rangfraaites don’t believe in conversion and they don’t allow others to disturb them. Rangfraas believe in the immortality of the soul and there is no fear to face consequences while professing the truth.

A book, Critical Questions and Simple Answers, written by Shri Khimun was also released on the occasion.

Shri Tumme Amo, Superintendent of Police of Changlang, was the Guest of Honour. He said there should be congenial atmosphere to take up the developmental activities and the Peace Rally organised by RFPS would definitely help to bring peace in the area. He appealed to the Government of Arunachal Pradesh to speed up the developmental activities to bring change in the present scenario in the district.

Shri Tengam Ngemu, former Minister in Arunachal Pradesh government, praised RFPS for the positive changes it brought about in the life of the people of Changlang. He said the honesty of the people in public life has increased and youths are now abandoning bad habits as a result of the movement.

Shri Pratik Potom remembered the contribution of the late Talom Rukbo in promotion and preservation of indigenous faith and culture.

Dr Jungdang Mungre welcomed the guests and delegates and Shri Ngungtim Changmi, vice president of IFCSAP, proposed a vote of thanks. (FOC)
