THIS book traces the story of Osho, also known as Acharya Rajneesh and Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, right from his birth, to his struggle against authorities, to his initiation into spiritualism, his much-hyped city of Rajneeshpuram in the US and subsequent incarceration in various jails till his journey into the other world.
According to the author, who was deeply touched by Osho’s insights and his vision that in 1975, he left the United States to come to Pune and was initiated into sannyas. Osho named him Swami Satya Vedant (Osho is spoken of in the present tense even when he is no longer alive). Osho, as an enlightened, fiery mystic, demolished age-old beliefs, tradition and teachings and declared, “I teach utter rebellion. I am not here to compromise. I have decided to be utterly honest and truthful, whatever the cost.” In his discourse, he often talks of a ‘new man’, a ‘new mankind’, a ‘new humanity’. He emphasises that because we are a divided humanity, we are a wounded one. The world is essentially one and he would like to see the East and the West merge together, enriching each other. -MG
