TWO social activists of Delhi, Shri Indu Bhushan and Shri Ripu Daman Bhardwaj, through their counsel Monika Arora, served a legal notice to Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh on December 14 for hurting their sentiments as the Hindu activists. In the notice Digvijay Singh has been called to tender unconditional apology to the nation, families of the patriots who became martyrs fighting the cross-border terrorists and also the Hindu Community, and to withdraw his reckless and irresponsible statement over slain Mumbai ATS Chief Hemant Karkare’s death by suggesting the involvement of Hindu extremists. He was also told to give an undertaking not to use such derogatory and offending words in future, failing which appropriate legal action will be initiative against him at his own risk, cost and consequences.

It is to be noted that Shri Digvijay Singh on December 11 had claimed that ATS Chief Hemant Karkare had called him up hours before the most unfortunate 26/11 terror strikes in Mumbai saying that he feared for his safety from Hindu extremists. His assertion and the timing of it shocked all the right thinking people of the country. On December 12, Smt. Kavita Karkare, widow of the late Hemant Karkare also criticised Digvijay Singh for his irresponsible and unpatriotic statement.

“Your baseless statements have given a serious blow to the country’s fight against terror and investigation into the 26/11 terrorist attack case. By your conduct and act, you have torpedoed the stand over the 26/11 terrorist attack. Those employing terror machine against our nation are overjoyed at your stand as you have given the terrorists and anti-national forces a formidable weapon to weaken our fight against terror. The stand of the Government and the series of dossiers sent by it to Pakistan and others have suffered staggering blow due to your unwholesome actions. It is indeed a painful situation that you chose to sacrifice prime national interest for petty vote bank politics,” the notice said. (FOC)
