NOTED social activist and national president of Bharatiya Govansh Rakshan Samvardhan Parishad, Dadabhai Gulabchand Khandelwal, passed away in Bhopal on September 1. He was 88. He was elder brother of former BJP leader the late Pyarelal Khandewal. He was cremated at Vishramghat crematorium of Bhopal on September 2. Many senior activists of the RSS, VHP, BJP and many other organisations were present on the occasion.
Born on June 27, 1922 at Charmandi village under Sihor district of Madhya Pradesh Dadabhai became a Sangh swayamsevak in 1937 and held various responsibilities from a Gatnayak in the shakha to Vibhag Karyavah and Prant Sahvyavastha Pramukh. He was among the swayamsevaks who had personally seen Dr Hedgewar.
Dadabhai had participated in Quit India Movement in 1942 and was also in jail for 19 months during the Emergency. He played a key role in the cow protection movement in 1966. He worked in the Registrar General of India office till 1966. He joined the VHP in 1987 and worked as Prant secretary and Kshetra secretary for many years.
In her tribute Didi Maa Sadhvi Ritambhara described Dadabhai as a white clad Sannyasi who despite being a grahstha, dedicated his entire life to the social cause. She said his entire life was full of patriotism and he infused the feeling of social service in thousands of youth. (FOC)
