NOTED Jain saint Acharya Vijayratna Sunder Surishwar Maharaj, who successfully fought against government’s move to introduce sex education in the country, underwent bypass surgery at Beach Kandy Hospital of Mumbai on July 20. The surgery was performed by Dr Bhattacharya. Shri Surishwar Maharaj was in Delhi for three years and had left for Mumbai on November 5, 2009. He covered this distance on foot in a span of about seven months and reached Mumbai in May this year. Observing Chaturmas in Mumbai he suddenly developed chest pain. He was immediately rushed to Beach Kandy Hospital where the bypass surgery was performed. According to doctors attending him, he is recovering satisfactorily and may be discharged from the Hospital shortly. RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat sent him special message wishing good health and fast recovery. (FOC)
