TWO-day Prant convention of Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM) concluded in Patna on April 18. Addressing the concluding ceremony national convener of the Manch Shri Arun Ojha said swadeshi should have been the basis of our life after Independence. But the disastrous steps that we took after that pushed us backward. Gandhiji used to say that his fight was against the British mentality and not against the Britishers, which the people like Pt Nehru forgot after achieving the Independence and the British mentality continued to dominate. The nation is basically facing the consequences of it today.

The convention also adopted three resolutions. In a resolution the Manch appealed to the people to ensure purity of the rivers and should not pollute them by any act. In another resolution the Manch said the hybrid seeds have caused much damage to the farmers. The resolution also criticised the government over the BT Brinjal issue. In the third resolution the Manch strongly opposed the opening of the mechanised slaughter house in Chakbairiya. Shri Dilip Nirala and Shri Mukul Ranjan were appointed new Prant convenor and joint convener respectively.
