“INDIGENOUS system of village development is the only alternative to get rid of the present day-problems of our villagers. There is a need to work on it at larger scale,” said former RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri KS Sudarshan. He was addressing a function organised at Chhoti Khatu in Rajasthan on the occasion of Pt. Vachnesh Tripathi Memorial Lecture and Bhanupratap Shukla Smriti Rashtradharma Samman.

He said Gandhiji’s dream of Gram Swaraj, explained in his book Hindu Swaraj, died prematurely, as he himself committed a blunder by pushing back Sardar Patel and making Nehru the president of All India Congress Committee in 1946. As soon as Pt Nehru became Prime Minister of the partitioned country he defied Gandhiji at all fronts. His economic policies broke the backbone of village self-dependence and promoted urban-oriented policies. The suicides by peasants today are the result of that policy. Only village-oriented policies can ensure balanced growth, he emphasised.

The function began with lighting the lamp by Shri KS Sudarshan and former Vice Chancellor of Ajmer University Dr Purushottam Lal Chaturvedi. Shri Anand Mishra ‘Abhay’, editor of Rashtradharma, explained the progress of Rashtradharma. Shri Sudarshan and Dr Chaturvedi felicitated Dr Shivom Ambar with Bhanu Pratap Shukla Smriti Rashtradharma Samman-2010. Prominent among those who were present on the occasion included Shri Pawan Putra Badal, manager of Rashtradharma Prakashan Ltd, Shri Anand Mohan Choudhary, Shri Jugal Kishore Jaithalia and Shri Hastimal.
