Pt Deendayalji had dreamt of reaching out to the last person of the society and ensuring quality and dignity of life for every person. Deendayal Upadhyaya Sewa Pratisthan is trying to do the same through various activities.

“TODAY, when everyone is running after name and fame and materialistic things and has no time to think for humanity, it is essential to be reminded of Pt Deendayalji’s thinking towards society in order to create a better India. Pt Deendayalji had dreamt of reaching out to the last person of the society and ensuring quality and dignity of life for every person. Deendayal Upadhyaya Sewa Pratisthan is trying to do the same through various activities,” said veteran BJP leader and former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Shri Nityanand Swami. Shri Swami is also chairman of the Pratisthan, which was established by former Prime Minister Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee with the objective to translate the ideals of Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya into practice.

Shri Nityanand Swami is among the leaders who worked with Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya. Despite his old age he still has a strong will to do something concrete in the social and political fields. Talking to Organiser in Dehradun he said the prime objective of the Pratisthan is to translate into practice the philosophy, concepts and ideas of the late Deendayalji. “Thus, social service for us is a sacred vow. We can take Bharat to prosperity and glory through social service. Our society is our idol, which we worship by conducting social service. We owe to our society the wealth, strength and knowledge we have received. Hence it is our duty to repay all such social debts by freely disbursing all that we have been privileged to receive from the society. Let everyone get equal opportunity. Let no one remain neglected. Let all of us be healthy, educated and cultured, capable and secured citizens are the main objectives of Pt. Deendayal Sewa Pratisthan. All these objectives can be achieved through social service and the Pratisthan has been trying to do it through various activities. Deendayal’s philosophy was to give importance to the service of the poor and the needy and he worked throughout his life for the welfare of downtrodden,” said Shri Swami.

The present BJP government in Uttarakhand has done a lot in achieving the objectives of Pt Deendayalji. Former Chief Minister Shri BC Khanduri not only accepted the demands of the Pratisthan but also materialised them practically. Present Chief Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ also helped greatly in these schemes. These demands included Pt. Deendayal Upadhayaya Kalyankari Rain Basera Yojna, planning at the block and district level naming of Coronation Hospital after Deendayal Upadhayaya, presenting awards in the field of education for the best students in the name of Deendayalji. The emergency ambulance service 108, which has become very popular in the State and has saved the lives of thousands of people, has been named after Deendayalji, a grant of Rs. 21 lakh for the establishment of Deendayal Park in Dehradun, educational institutions of the State have been directed to observe Deendayal Jayanti on September 25 every year. Setting-up of Deendayal Shodh Sansthan are the important achievements of the new Pratisthan. The BJP government is committed towards adopting and implementing the thoughts of Deendayalji. All these steps have been taken to let the people know the philosophy of Pt. Deendayalji. The Sewa Pratisthan has decided to publish the life philosophy of Pt. Deendayal Upadhayaya, which will include the experiences of the great personalities with Pt. Deendayal who were his contemporaries. This will inspire people to adopt Deendayal’s ideals of social service.

The Sewa Pratisthan has also set-up several camps during the Maha Kumbh in Haridwar to cater to various needs of the devotees. The camp would take-up the responsibility of helping lost people including children and elderly person in the Kumbh Mela. The members of the Pratisthan would also provide counselling to the devotees in respect of the problems being faced by them and also extend First Aid service to the needy. “Besides extending service to the devotees the camp will also provide information of prilgrimage places to the public,” Shri Swami said and added it would also exhibit literature related to the life of Pandit Deendayal Upadhaya and announcements made by the government in the name of Deendayalji.
