Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) achieved first position in students’ union elections held in Himachal Pradesh recently. The Parishad won 225 seats. It is regularly for the tenth time that the ABVP achieved first position in the state. According to Shri Umesh Dutt, national secretary, the ABVP won 54 posts of president, 57 posts of vice president, 57 posts of general secretary and 57 seats of joint secretary. On the other hand the NSUI won only 98 seats and SFI won 42 seats. The colleges in which the full ABVP panel won included Rikangpio, Seema, DAC College (Kotkhai), Government Sanskrit College (Kyartu), Sanskrit College (Shimla), Sangdah College, Una College, Beaton College, Bangan College, Chintpurni College, Haripur, Himotkarsha Girls College (Hamirpur), Sanskrit College Domi, Chakmoh Sujanpur, Deendayal College Maihare, Gautam Girls College (Hamirpur), General Jauravar Singh College (Hamirpur), Ghumarvin, Nayanadevi, Sanskrit College (Nayanadevi), Nadaun College, Mandi College, Lambathach, Sundernagar, Sarkaghat, Dharmapur, Sanskrit College (Sundernagar), Jaisinghpur, Gohar, Sanskrit College Hanogi, Kukum Seri, Kilad, Saluni, Thural, Naura, Jwalaji, Haripur, Shahpur, Baba Badoh, Dharmshala, Dehri Indora, Sugabhtoli and Manmayani College. In many colleges the Parishad won 2-3 seats also. (VSK, Shimla)
