Leading educationist and social worker Dr Chilukuri Subrahmanya Sastry passed away in Vishakhapattnam on May 15. The last rites were performed by Sri Rama Sastry, son of his younger brother in Vishakhapatnam. A condolence meeting was held in the same day at Srikrishna Vidya Mandir in Dwarakanagar. Dr LSRK Prasad, a retired professor of Andhra University, presided over the meeting. Prominent among those who paid tribute to Dr Chilukuri included Sadguru Sri Sivananda Murty, Sri Siddeswarananda Bharatiswamy, head of Kurtalam Peetham, Sriramachandra Sadasiva Haldekar, RSS Kshetra executive member, Sri Bhagaiyaji, RSS Akhil Bharatiya Bouddhik Pramukh, Justice S. Parvatarao, Kshetra Sanghachalak, Sri Bhandaru Sadasivarao, Dr Dendukuri Siva Prasad, RSS Purva Andhra Pradesh Sah Pranta Sanghachalak, Sri TV Deshmukh, Paschim Andhra Prant Sanghachalak, Sri Chilukuri Suryanarayana, brother of the late Dr Sastry, Smt. Shantamma Garu, Prof. KPR Vithal Murty, Sri Pilla Ramarao, Sri Ghanshyam Mahapatra, Purvakshetra Saririk Pramukh, and Sri Kandala Srinivasarao, senior advocate. Dr Sastry became a Pracharak in 1945. After working in several districts, he came to Hyderabad in 1953 to establish Hindusthan Samachar. Later, he went to Vishakhapattnam for higher studies. He was awarded gold medal in BA (Hons.) for Telugu at university level. He was an ideal teacher. He travelled for decades as Prant Karyavah, Sah Prant Sanghachalak, Prant Sanghachalak, Kshetra Sanghachalak and as national executive member of RSS. He always used to encourage functionaries to make new experiments.

Shantibhai Daru is no more
Veteran Sangh Pracharak of Gujarat Shantibhai Chotalal Daru, who was popularly known as Mamaji, passed away in Ahmedabad on May 24. He was 83. Born on July 7, 1926 at Sankheda village under Baroda district of Gujarat he was a brilliant student as well as a sports person. He came to Vadodara in 1943 for higher studies and then came in contact of the RSS. It was with the inspiration of the then Pracharak of Vadodara Shri Bapurao Lele and then Prant Pracharak Shri Madhukarrao Bhagwat he became the Sangh Pracharak after completing his BSc education. He worked in different capacities including Vibhag Pracharak in the state. He also looked after the work of Vishwa Hindu Parishad for some time. When his growing age became a problem in conducting tours, he started looking after the work of Rugna Sewa Prakalp and served the patients and their relatives visiting the hospital. He was well-known to hundreds of families of the state due to his simple behaviour.
