What befalls on children witnessing the matrimonial discord of their parents? Himani Dalmia casts chiaroscuro effect upon her readers mind to feel the impairment of such children. These hapless children for no fault of their own wallow in the no-man'sland, no matter opulence hangs over. ?Anger and annoyance would surge inside me, like a snake?. The feelings would vanish in the pit of my stomach. I was becoming an efficient shock absorber?. Can a child gulp down ??My dad'shaving an affair?? Mitali an adolescent child and her younger brother Mihir remain a muted spectator to see her dad'slive-in relationships with rank outsiders, ignominious, irksome and revolting. And the repercussion ensued, ?Mitali ? 3 blasted on the car stereo. I hastily shoved away the memory??

?In fact, he (papa) had accused Mamma of being a prying, suspicious, insecure wife, and of sucking the joy out of their marriage?. And the father spits out the truth at the fag-end when lies had stockpiled to reveal it. Such a situation drives children precocious meddling in such elderly matters that should remain outside their ambit. ?Their father'sloyalties and affections were divided up between wives and offsprings in different households. Their tortured mother demanded allegiance and shrewdness from her children?. Their lifestyle vacillated between opulence and privation, quavering under their father'sdisposition. ?As A result, their relationships with each other were complex, stung with too many childhood memories of insecurity and a distrust of people in general?. The father is engrossed over his restaurant d?cor while his home-d?cor goes awry. ?Papa was friendly but not fatherly?.We were made to feel welcome at the restaurant but not at home?. The entire Jaitia family enjoyed opulence ensconced in Lutyen'sZone in Delhi. The readers get a sneak?a peek into such lifestyle of beau monde enmeshed in a city-slicker'sDelhi.

The father is a womaniser, whether call it debauchery or perversion. But his escapades shreds away the lives of so many. The tandem act of husband and wife has been hailed in Indian society. When the husband upsets the apple cart the growing children bear the brunt upon their career and bear a psychic misbalance apart from the ignominy meted out by brutish society. The book may serve a didactic role to upbraid Casanova Syndrome licentiousness that weans away an effectuate life.
