National president of Rashtriya Yoddha Samarak Samiti, Shri Darshan Lal Jain appealed to the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh to undo the historical injustice done to the great personalities of the country and rename Babur Road as Maharana Sangram Singh Marg, Humayun Road as Rana Pratap Marg, Akbar Road as Samrat Hemchandra Vikramaditya Marg, Jehangir Road as Guru Arjun Dev Marg, Shahjehan Road as Guru Tegh Bahadur Marg and above all Aurangzeb Road as Guru Gobind Singh Marg. In an open letter written to Prime Minster on November 24, 2008, Shri Jain said India'strue heroes languish for national recognition in Independent India. He has written to the Prime Minister that ?an honourable Indian, a leader much above the petty politics, and a true Sikh far removed from the class of ordinary politicians like you? must do it.

Referring to the tercentenary celebration of Khalsa Panth celebrated in 1999, Shri Jain said Shri Guru Granth Sahib has time and again reinforced his convictions regarding the fundamental unity of all the faiths born in India and he feels proud of the great heritage. He said, recently, the State and the people celebrated the tercentenary of Zafarnamah also. ?Zafarnamah is a Letter of Victory which was written by Shri Guru Gobind Singh to Aurangzeb, admonishing him for his treacherous acts in first assuring Guru Maharaj, under his own signature put on the first leaf of Quran, of safe passage for the Guru and his family from Chamkaur Sahib Fort, and then breaking his word, attacking him and his entourage and killing his two elder sons and some trusted soldiers, separating the younger sons and subsequently bricking them alive at Sirhind. It is awesome how a person in such distress could muster such super-human courage and confidence to snub a tyrant like Aurangzeb in such contemptuous language,? Shri Jain said in the letter.

Shri Jain also mentioned the epithets used by Guru Maharaj to designate the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb??lairs? (Zafarnamah Couplet no. 14), ?crafty crow? (Z.C. no. 16), ?perfidious hordes? (Z.C. no. 20), ?fox? (Z.C. no. 24), ?faithless? (Z.C. no. 45), ?even if a hundred times on Quran you take a vow, I would not a little bit, believe in you now? (Z.C. no. 49), ?strange is your justice, your upholding of piety, fie! A hundred times indeed on your regality? (Z.C. no. 65), ?what though my four sons have you slain, my Khalsa the coiled snake, doth yet remain? (Z.C. no. 76), ?where is emperor Tamerlane and where is Babar, where is emperor Humayun, and where is Akabr? (Z.C. no. 106).

He also mentioned some more epithets used by Guru Maharaj in the Jangnamah for Aurangzeb??the name Aurangzeb does not suit you, as Aurangzeb'sare sans deceit and true? (Jangnamah Couplet. no. 5), ?your rosary'sthread and beads are only a ploy, for luring and enticing people which you employ? (J.C. no. 6), ?you have kneaded your father'spious dust, with your brother'sblood and actions unjust? (J.C. no. 7), ?over this foundation of sheer guilt, an adobe structure have you built? (J.C. no. 8), ?now, I shall with the blessing of my Lord Akal, hit it with steel-water like seasonal rainfall? (J.C. no. 9), ?so that not a trace of this structure vile, is left behind our sacred land to defile? (J.C. no. 10), ?successless from Deccan hills, did you retreat, in Mewar drank you, the bitter portion of defeat? (J.C. no. 11), ?under your feet shall I place fires in such a way, that I don'tlet you drink water in Punjab anyway? (J.C. no. 13) ?what enough the jackal in a cunning way, has contrived, two cubs of a tiger, to slay? (J.C. no. 14), ?the tiger is alive, in a great fury, to wreak his vengeance upon thee? ( J.C. no. 15), ?if a seasoned wolf are ye, I too keep my tigers free? (J.C. no. 18), ?you enjoy the benefits of ease and pelf, and have not faced a warrior, yourself? (J.C. no. 23).

This is not the language of an ordinary mortal, these are Divine Words. History records show that soon after receipt of this letter, Aurangzeb fell sick and died on February 20, 1707 and thus came the downfall of Mughal empire.

?I strongly feel that it is an insult to the great Guru that all the vandals named by him in Zafarnamah continue to be honoured in our country and all New Delhi Roads have been named after these barbarians. This is an insult to all the freedom fighters of the great medieval freedom struggle. It is our pious duty to respectfully cherish the collective memories of our great warriors and not the suppressors of the Indian people,? Shri Jain added.
