Bharateeya Vichara Kendram led by the RSS ideologue Padmashri P Parameswaran was accorded the status of a ?Research Centre? by the Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati Varsity, Ajmer for doctoral studies in ?Bharateeya Approach? to Management, Philosophy, Economics and Culture etc..

To coincide with the visit of MDS varsity Vice-chancellor

Dr. Bhagirath Singh and Dr. KC Sharma, Director of Research, to the Kendram Research Centre, a meeting was held on September 27 at Thiruvananthapuram, to honour eminent personalities who have contributed to the nation in various fields of human activity.

The icons who were honoured with a shawl, memento and citation were Prof. Vasudevan Potti (renowned Sanskrit scholar), Prof. Chandrasekharan Nair (leading Hindi poet, writer and scholar), Dr. KI Vasu (leading scientist, metallurgist and President of Vigyan Bharati), Yosuf Ali Kecheri (Malayalam leading poet, writer, film director and ex-president Kerala Sahitya Academy and Dr. Joseph Pulikunnel (Director, Institute of Christian Studies, staunch opponent of conversion and church hegemony and initiator of Hindu-Christian dialogue).

Delivering his presidential address, Padmashri P. Parameswaran said the world is moving at break-neck speed displacing all concepts of time. ?Materialistically displaced nations are at a disadvantage due to the materialistic development mode of the world, which is conquering even outer space. This development mode is erratic and unpredictable for future of mankind. The challenge before the world comity is balance between past and future. Only Bharat can provide such a development mode, which is rooted in the past and trudging majestically into the future. We have to take the positive aspects in the past and absorb science and technology advancements for success in the future. In the globalised environment, well structured and approved academic research along with patient and prolonged effort is needed for quality research.? Concluding his speech, Shri Parameswaran said the BVK-MDS tie-up is not a machine that will produce doctorate holders but an army of nationalists who will contribute to the nation and world.

Replying to the reception accorded to him, Dr. Bhagirath Singh said the MDS varsity is highly impressed at the massive infrastructure available at the BVK Research Centre. He also said MDS varsity has given permission to BVK, to make use of the services of tried and tested retired academicians and professors to guide research activities, as a special case. ?The quality and quantity of research has to be balanced. In India while quantity of research is going up the quality is going down. Despite Bharat having 450 universities, we come out with only 5,000 doctorates every year. China produces 1,50,000 doctorate holders every year, ever pushing back USA and Germany. In India the bright students go for IT related jobs, Doctors, Engineers and Civil Service. Very few go for Research. This has to be reversed.? ?Research is the future mantra of the world?, he concluded.
