DEHRADUN: Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) swept the polls for Students? Union held in DAV (PG) College. ABVP won the major posts of President and University Representative. Shri Rahul Rawat of ABVP got 2644 votes and defeated NSUI candidate Prashant Khanduri by a handsome margin of 856 votes for the post of President. Sumit Pundir of ABVP got 2311 votes and defeated NSUI candidate Shivesh Bahuguna (1671 votes) for the post of University Representative. Independent Pradeep Butola (1714 votes) was declared Vice-President. Parag Bhatt of the Aryan Group (2258 votes), Anju Bora (1059 votes) and Rakesh Mamgain (1476 votes) were declared General Secretary, Joint Secretary and Treasurer respectively. Renu Singh (617 votes), Vipin Nautiyal (223 votes), Vipin Kumar (511 votes), Gagan Kumar (551 votes) were declared winners for the post of members of the Executive. One Javed Alam had already been elected unopposed to the Executive.
Chief Minister Shri BC Khanduri and BJP MLA Shri Ganesh Joshi congratulated the newly elected ABVP workers of DAV College for their victorious performance in the Students? Union elections. Meeting the student leaders, who paid a courtesy visit at the official residence of CM, Shri Khanduri advised the leaders to work for the welfare of the students. ?Student leaders should strive for all around development by working harmoniously. Their deeds should be such that they bring honour to the state,? Shri Khanduri said.
Urging the students to stick to the objectives of the ABVP he said, ?The record victory at the DAV (PG) College reflects the growing popularity of BJP among the students.?
Shri Manohar Kant Dhyani, Vice chairman of Planning Commission and Dr Devendra Bhasin were also present on the occasion.
