Delhi unit of Vishwa Hindu Parishad staged a massive demonstration at Jantar-Mantar in New Delhi on June 16 to register its protest against the jehadi attack on the pilgrims of Ganga Sagar in West Bengal. It is to be noted that a group of jehadis attacked the pilgrims staying at a dharmshala in Ganga Sagar at the night of June 11. Many of the pilgrims were injured in the attack. The Rapid Action Force later got the hosted pilgrims released in the morning. Instead of taking any action against the attackers, the local administration registered FIRs against the pilgrims. Addressing the demonstrators Shri Karuna Prakash, organising secretary of IVHP, said the growing infiltration from Bangladesh has developed a security threat to pilgrimage places and the state government is silent over the threat. The demonstrators condemned the attack and demanded thorough probe into the incident.
