Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has described the unprecedented hike in the fees of IIM and IIT as an injustice to the majority of students. In a statement Shri Suresh Bhatt, national general secretary of ABVP, said this step of increasing the fees reflects the mentality of commercialisation of education even in the internationally reputed educational institutions. The ABVP opposes it tooth and nail, he said. ?The ABVP believes that there should be an independent committee to decide the fees of the IIT and IIM institutions and the committee should conduct a survey to ascertain whether the fee hike is necessary or not. The ABVP is not against the hike in fees at certain point of time but it should never be unprecedented. The ABVP calls upon the students to oppose it,? the statement said. Shri Bhatt further warned the government not to commercialise the education and withdraw the hike forthwith, otherwise the ABVP would have to protest across the country against the Government.
