Founder of Balgokulam Shri M.A. Krishnan received the 22nd Vivekananda Sewa Samman in Kolkata at a special function organised by Burrabazaar Kumarsabha Pustakalaya on February 10. Balgokulam is an extraordinary project for the children for promoting good habits and samskars in the present situation where values of life are gradually shrinking in the country. Besides the Balgokulam, Shri Krishnan has authored various books, published literature for children and edited a news weekly for 25 years.

After offering flowers to the picture of Swami Vivekananda, Shri M.A. Krishnan was honoured with a shawl, coconut, a memento and a cheque of Rs 51,000 by Shri Benugopal Bangur, chairman of the ceremony. ?When the Prime Minister of our country tells that education needs a total revolution, the Education Minister is busy in reserving seats for minorities in educational institutions. The Prime Minister then himself tells that the Muslims have first right over the national resources. This is the kind of situation in the country today,? said Dr Murli Manohar Joshi ridiculously. He asserted that he would introduce the same as he had done during his ministership in the Central Cabinet if he gets the chance once again what was stammped as saffronisation by the then opposition as well the leftists. He said the present education policy is based on the theory prescribed by Macaulay. So, there is the utmost relevance of the activities of Balgokulam. He advised the Pustakalaya to introduce the same system in West Bengal too.

After receiving the award, Shri M.A. Krishnan said he had started the Balgokulam with inspirations and ideals of Swami Vivekananda, Dr Hedgewar, Maharishi Aurobind, Mahatma Gandhi and others. Smt Usha Dwivedi conducted the proceedings and Shri Jugal Kishore Jaithalia proposed a vote of thanks. While Dr Premshankar Tripathi spoke about the activities of the Burrabazar Kumarsabha Pustakalaya.
