There is one area where the Indian communists and the US academic have a common goal: In undermining India and distorting Indian history.

The Indian Left is at its polemical best when it comes to denouncing Indian tradition and Hindu history. This we see in the daily practice of academic fascism in the portals of hallowed Indian academic institutions.

The stranglehold of the Left mafia is such that in universities like JNU students and academic staff are screened at the entry level so that the stifling grip of the time-warped Marxian hypothesis is never challenged.

Research projects are awarded to and accepted only from a particular class of students and research subjects are predetermined to suit the dialectical parameters of the communist lexicon.

The result is we have second-rate research papers. Original work is seldom encouraged in these institutions. An analysis of the research projects awarded since their inception by the ICHR, ICPR, ICSSR or most of the front-line central universities will prove this point. Only a peculiar stream of research is encouraged and genuine nationalist approach is deliberately discouraged and omitted from the list of projects sanctioned, though the original mandate of all these institutions was to create an alternative nationalist intellectual basis for the modern-day Indian renaissance.

To torpedo this new Indian awakening was the inner-most desire of the Indian communists. So we have third-rate scholars dishing out second-grade stuff basing their entire work on secondary sources. And India does not produce world-class academic work.

A new book, Invading the Sacred, An Analysis of Hinduism Studies in America, reveals that a powerful academic lobby in the US is systematically undermining core icons and ideals of Indian culture and thought. In this, of course, they are working in tandem with the Indian Left as was seen in the recent textbook controversy in California. In that controversy where Indian history and situations were disparagingly distorted the Leftist academicians and fellow travellers were in the forefront defending demented US academics against the outrage of the Indian diaspora.

The new book is a scholarly study by many well-known experts and seeks to facilitate a nascent grassroots movement to challenge the organised misrepresentation of Indian culture and philosophy by a gang of American academicians. Our cover has a detailed report on these findings. This research project has uncovered shoddy and biased scholarship driven by certain power cartels. This book is an authentic narrative of the Indian diaspora'sanguished response to such fake scholarship. It documents how those who dare to speak up have been branded as dangerous, saffronites and Hindutva elements.

This study has raised serious questions about the celebrated intellectual freedom in the US academic world. If this book is any guide then the capitalists and the comrades are like Siamese twins when it comes to denying India its future. They propagate obnoxious myths and brazen lies as facts to dismantle and destroy the revival of this great country and civilization.

Do they work on a common agenda under a central command? To frustrate and defeat them truth has to prevail, exposing this mischief is the first step in this battle.
