Noted Kannada writer Dr S.L. Bhairappa was honoured with the 19th Dr Hedgewar Prajna Samman in Kolkata on July 1. Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Shri Sushil Modi presented the Samman in the presence of senior Sangh Pracharak and Karyakarini member of RSS Shri Indresh Kumar. The Samman consists of a cheque of Rs 51,000, a shawl and memento.
Speaking at the function as chief speaker Shri Indresh Kumar said nationality of a person is defined by mother and motherland, which are god'sgifts anywhere in the world and cannot be measures on the scale of worship, language or other parameters. Referring to the 150 years anniversary of First War of Independence, he informed that at that time there was participation of every religion, language or creed in the struggle.
Shri Sushil Modi said that the RSS founder Dr Hedgewar was a great organiser. He said in 1934 Mahatma Gandhi had himself praised the RSS work after practically observing a winter camp in Wardha, Maharashtra. Dr Hedgewar was never a man who wanted fame, he added.
Dr Bhairappa said that each and every literary person must know the original philosophy of this country to do research work in the field of literature and there are two parallel resources, one is the Ramayana and the other is the Mahabharata. (Basudeb Pal)
