Former Union Minister and national general secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Anant Kumar described UPA government as ?Ulta Pulta Alliance? of opportunistic parties. The BJP has termed the Congress rule in recent years as anti-poor, aimed at vote-bank politics, compromising the national interests.

The charges were levelled in Jammu city as part of party'snationwide ?Rashtriya Suraksha Sankalap March? to highlight the failure of UPA in putting a check on price-hike and tackling terrorism. Addressing party workers, the former Union Minister said sky-rocketing prices of the essential commodities are making a hole in common man'spocket.

He condemned the Congress for repealing POTA and warned that its soft approach towards anti-national elements would further worsen the security scenario in the entire country.

Not sparing the coalition government of J&K headed by Ghulam Nabi Azad, he blamed it for supporting the terrorists.

Maintaining that the Party has launched a nationwide campaign against terrorism and price-hike, the BJP leader said the people of J&K should not consider themselves alone in their fight against insurgency as BJP activists throughout the country are with them in this fight.

Criticising Azad for pleading clemency for Guru, he said this will have serious repercussions for the coalition partners in the state and people will teach them a lesson in the next elections.

He alleged that those who support Afzal and pleaded for his mercy are playing with the national interests and Congress is doing it for its vote-bank politics.

Decrying Azad he alleged that the development works started under Gramin Sadak Yojna, which was a vision of the Vajpayee government, are still at standstill in J&K.

Anant Kumar said the state of Jammu and Kashmir is lagging behind in the development scenario with ministers of ruling elite are involved in corruption and Chief Minister'stalking of checking corruption is just to befool masses.

He strongly defended POTA which was enacted during the NDA rule, and claimed it was a deterrent against terrorism and UPA has revoked it to give a free hand to terrorists.

Accusing the UPA government at Centre of rising prices of essential commodities in the country, he said BJP has resolved to uproot this government whose ?remote control? is in the hands of Sonia Gandhi.

The BJP leader blamed Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh for being an inefficient leader in taking decisions on his own asserting that Congress has become a party with Sonia dictating terms, whether it is Manmohan Singh or any other leader in Congress.

State BJP president Ashok Khajuria in his address held Congress, PDP and NC responsible for the present turmoil in the J&K state and claimed that it is only in the BJP that people see a ray of hope.

BJP MLA Jugal Kishore Sharma, former BJP president Nirmal Singh, former Mayor Kavinder Gupta and Piara Singh also spoke on the occasion.

Later, hundreds of BJP activists led by Anant Kumar, Ashok Khajuria and Dr Nirmal Singh took out a procession from Press Club, Jammu, to Parade. The Party activists with placards and banners in their hands were shouting slogans against the UPA government and coalition government in the state for their failure in curbing terrorism and containing the prices.

The senior party leaders who were also present in the rally include former Governor of Haryana, Babu Parmanand, ex-party president, Daya Krishen Kotwal, senior leaders Govind Ram Sharma, Ch. Piara Singh, and Bali Bhagat. The rally was coordinated by district BJP unit and state BJYM led by Yudhvir Sethi.
