Dr Premchand Jain passes away

Renowned economist and RSS? former Prant Karyavah of Haryana, Dr Premchand Jain passed away in Delhi on November 6. He was 78. Born on May 5, 1927, in Ugana village, Ambala district, he came in contact of RSS while studying in DAV College in Lahore. In 1951, he did post-graduation in economics. He started his teaching career from Vaishya College, Bhivani, in 1955. Later, he became Professor of Economics in Kurukshetra University, Haryana. He retired as Dean of Economics, Kurukshetra University. Scores of research scholars did their Ph.D under him. Besides the Sangh work, he carved out a niche in the academic field.

His books, written on different topics of economics, earned fame on global level. He made remarkable contribution to Haryana'seconomic and agricultural development. He had been the member of Haryana State Planning Board for years. After retirement in 1988, he devoted his full time to the Sangh work. He made service to society his life'smission. After discharging the responsibility of Prant Karyavah, Haryana, he had been Prant Pracharak for some time.
